As promised

Here's the photo of 'Arry the Arapaima.

Most definitely put on weight - probably around 15 - 16 kg according to Jit - and he's lifted more fish than I've had hot dinners!

Don't know why he's smiling tho - Jit, not the fish

Got one !

Strong and intelligent fish as I had ben led to expect .You will not be sitting down to catch one of these .They head towards every hazard they can snap the line on .Very vocal when caught, rather like a dog growling .They also flick the pectoral spines back and forth at a rapid rate which sounds like playing cards on a bicycle wheel .Great to eat as well Terry

Well done Mr.C

They often sound like they're having a good fart!

Stunning creatures though - they also shed their skins like a snake!

Regarding eating - simple - you pay me the THB 500+ / kilo + 10% and I won't even think about it

i.e. Sorry - NOT FOR EATING - or for someone I know who might want to use a spear gun.

Was wondering about the leathery skin .Bit like a small shark but slightly rougher .Maybe its ready to shed ? Remind me to be upwind next time you decide to fart

Hi Terry,
What a great fish, i cant wait to have a couple of days fishing at your place, at the start and the end of our holiday i hope you keep your fridge as well stocked as your lake, i might even ask crazy and SJ if they fancy a bit of sport, fishing and fridge fishing, well you do have to balance that rod in one hand with a wet :D

Qestion for you can you fly fish, or are all your species bottom feeders.

I am no great fisherman just enjoy it with a beer in my hand, i have never caught a fish bigger than 2kg so i hope for better things, if i catch one of your fine specimens ofcorce i will pose for a staff photo :D

Up near our house myself and the wife spent the day fishing on a resivour, as usual i caught bugger all apart from a suntan and a red nose, the wife started chating to some bloke next to us, next thing, out with a few baht, and the man gave her this lovaly fish must have been 4 to 5 kg she proudly held it up to show me then walked this fish up the very steap bank, next thing the fish has started to flap and gone through the wifes hands like a bar of sope, she had to chase it down the bank all most to the waters edge, i was killing myself laughing. :lach:

Kendo.

Kendo

Look forward to your visit. The fridge is always well stocked - (But gets a regular bashing  )

As stated before - YES we can fly fish but due to the fact that our ponds are not enormous we have to limit fly fishing to when we are not so crowded. (Fly fishermen use a lot of space!!)

The Pacu, Rohu and Suwai have all taken fly.

There is also a good chance that you will get something bigger than 2kg - but as I always say to customers - no promises - fish are fish - it's not a circus and I can't train them.

Sometimes wish I could

what a great place to relax and enjoy. As far as the fish, wow, it's worth just sitting there and enjoying and waiting for that big one that you can tell all your friends about. Be sure and bring a camera, your friends won't believe you.

Another eventful day yesterday 8)
Quite a few caught – Redtail, Pacu, Yeesok Thai, Chon, amongst many others.
‘Arry decided he was peckish again and succumbed to a piece of Prawn! Our delighted customer had, up until this time, had a personal best record fish of 10lb. ‘Arry – now weighing around 20kg (40lb) blew this away big time. Another happy bunny as shown below.

Image

Compare this image with the earlier one on this thread and you can witness the growth rate over a couple of months!

Also – with typical Thai timing - we had a delivery of some of our new stock around 7.30pm
Actual tally – of course slightly different to what we ordered was as follows: :?
6 Giant Mekong Catfish (Pla Beuk) totaling 60+kg ……….top pond
10 Arawana (Pla Tapat) totaling 20+kg……………5 each pond
11 Pla Duk Lusia – (Still to be properly identified, but I think that they are ‘Grey Eel Catfish) totaling 50 – 60 kg ……………6 top & 5 lower pond
13 Pla Joker (Suckermouth Catfish) ……..5 top pond, 5 lower pond and 3 in ornamental pond.
60 Giant Gourami (Pla Ret) totaling 60kg …………..30 each pond
2 Giant freshwater Stingray (babes around 1.5kg each)………lower pond
6 more Alligator Gar ………babes around 2kg each……. 4 top pond, 2 lower pond
Unfortunately no photos of the fish going in as they already had come 140km in the back of two pickups and needed to get in the ponds asap. However a certain well known HHAD celeb was on hand to witness the event!

Still to come ………….more Tiger Catfish, Asian Redtail Catfish + more Carp
Watch this space.
