rig,
iPhone 3g is only legal in Thailand on contract with 'True Move', see if O2 has arrangement with them, as cowboy suggested. Unlocked one's are in Market Village now for 26k, presumably far cheaper in Bangkok.
BaaBaa,
I had the Omnia i800 and gave it away for peanuts. The clips I've seen of i900 (I know you're talking about i850) seem a lot better now but still have to use the arrow from the mouse which was impossible to use, the keyboard was too hard to use with fingers, so you ended up using the mouse or the little pen thing (stylus) that came with it, took ages to write a text. They wouldn't open the box and let me try it out, make sure you try it out first, even the experts on these videoclips are having to do some things twice, its was not heat touch-sensitive like an iPhone where you just have to lightly tap it, but you're having to physically push down on the screen. Still the i900 may be vastly improved on the i800.
Also there's not a stylus slot, so it attaches by a bit of string looks naff, they don't show you this in the demos:
Read this report:
The Omnia is still a touch screen, but the fiddly menus do not work well with fingers, with even the “x” to close windows being difficult to press – it has been designed entirely with the stylus in mind. The stylus is attached to an accessory strap on the phone and is hardly easy access. However, Samsung has had the foresight to include an optical mouse pad below the touch screen. This is a tiny square that you rub your finger over to move the pointer around on the screen. This makes web browsing a little easier, but in practice it's actually rarely used..
Saying that the iPhone has plenty of short comings too and the Omnia has more programs etc, but just found it too fiddly and longwinded to use.
