In the end, so fcuking what?Bella wrote:Hieneken,San Miguel and Draught 50 baht along Beach Road to Walking Street Pattaya or Bangla Road to Soi Eric in Phuket. These bars nestle between top entertainment complex and food establishment's. Compare these price's with the 70 to 90 baht you will pay in the run down bar area of Hua Hin.
I'm a fool! I should base my visits to Thailand on the 20 baht difference in beer prices. After 2,600 draught beers I've saved an airfare!
Hookers 1000 baht in Hua Hin plus bar fine plus room 1600 baht
Pattaya Soi 6 1000 baht all in.
You can pay anything upto 5,000 baht for the night in Pattaya, this willbe a stunning thing, you will not see the like of this in Hua Hin.
The "thing" better be stunning, the price certainly is. Personally, I'd rather pay for a woman.
Rip off you bet.
Food price's,go to Tesco, same all over Thailand

When Tesco opened at MV I posted my views on their marketing tactics, and my opinion hasn't changed. The initial cut price offers are designed to draw shoppers away from local traders until the opposition closes down.
Good on you for continuing to support the market traders.
Hi Margaretmargaretcarnes wrote:Yes KDon, and more recently its apparent that their employment tactics are a bit dubious as well.
But this HuaHin vs Pattaya thing (above) will never end will it? Two completely different resorts after all. As SJ says HH is preferable for people with children, and worth the extra 20 baht or so on a beer. 20 baht now is close on 50 pence, and a lot of beer prices in HH are actually double those 50 bahts quoted for Pattaya, or about a pound more.
Horses for courses though, and where expats choose to settle in LOS will be influenced mainly by what lifestyle they want.
But the crime rate in Pattaya surely reflects for one it's much higher population, as well as the influx of foreign 'mafia'.
It's unfortunate image has surely been fuelled by the lack of more strict controls placed upon HH for obvious reasons.
Restrictions which have prevented the type of free press which Pattaya has been able to have and which, IMO, maybe helps to make the divide look even wider.

I am with you and all your attitudes re prices etc.
What I like about Hua Hin is that after you leave, you feel as though you have had a holiday, because you can relax without hassle during the day anywhere on the beach area, and there is enough diversity in the bar areas or just out of town to enjoy yourselves.
I have been to Phuket a couple of times, and although being like a kid in a candyshop for bars selections etc, after I left, I felt as though I needed another holiday to get over that one.
Am coming to Hua Hin again in May, but am going to Chiang Mai just for a change of scene for a week and then on the VIP Bus trip to HH.
have heard many good things about Chiang Mai so am looking forward to my trip.
You hear negatives about Hua Hin and its businesses here and on other forums, but if you ignore all of the shit that a lot of people spout about and take people as you find them, it makes for a most enjoyable holiday.
All the people I have had dealings with in HH, I only have praise for, so I think the critical thing is about peoples attitude, not the cost of things. If you are having good service from people, the cost is one of the last considerations I ever make.
