I believe he is on the mend, but not as fast as we hoped for.
He just had a minor setback because he is not getting enough oxygen to keep him upright long enough.
Chris himself wants to get out of the hospital asap thus keeping the cost down to a minimum, but in the end it's up to the doctors to decide if he's fit to go home or remain in the hospital.
I intend to live forever - so far so good.

My thoughts are with him - what a predicament and I expect that many may be thinking "there, but for the grace of God".

If you read this Chris, Janet and I wish you all the best and look forward to meeting up again (never saw you when we were last in HH in October).

We will not be back in Thailand until mid February - and then probably not in HH, although Janet and I expect to meet up with at least one person from the Forum.

Any visitors to the hospital - please give our best regards to Chris

Hope you are "back in the zone ASAP".

You have helped me in PMs and many others, I know that.

All the best dude.

We all enjoy your posts. They always "cut the mustard".

Poor and Needy

Post by Hokum »

:( Sad to hear anyone with sickness problem's in Thailand or any other foreign country. Although it sounds this chap has been in Thailand a long time running buisiness's, why has he no insurance, must have paid Tax and National Insurance surely?

Option's;

Does he have assets (Car,truck or Motorbike) ? insurance policy in his own country?
How does he live here, income from business or pension?

Bar community suggesting BBQ's, Darts, Pool and Pub Crawl's, will they donate the profits from every drink sold?

:? We are guests here, perhaps this will start to causes and relief to the poor and needy of Thailand.

Hokum,
While your questions regarding Chris's financial position are valid, this is not the right time or place to be asking them; suffice to say that Chris does need assistance but did not ask for it and his friends have stepped in.
As far as the fund raising goes I think the bar events are intended to be raising money from the individuals taking part (entry fees and so on) but I would imagine that the bar owners involved may well chip in something in addition to helping to organise and promote it.

On your final point, there are a number of expat groups and organisations locally and nationally that already raise money for the groups you mention, and again this thread is not the right place to be raising the issue, however important it is. If this concerns you I would suggest starting another thread on the topic.

Get well soon Chris.

I'd be happy to get involved in a pool night such as Wanderlust suggested and will happily sponsor Richard on his sky dive.

Well thats your opinion I have stated mine, perhaps other's would like to see option's and facts surrounding specific issue's.

I do not know the fellow, but have been told he has run business's as stated here for some time so should have insurance, if not then that is bad self mangement.

I have now been informed that he has a Pick Up Truck and Motorbike, are these being sold or would he like help from someone to sell them (one of his freinds).
I believe his wife is strewn with gold, should these itmes be sold.

If he has been here in Thailand for some time (10 years) and may not have not been paying his insurance stamp, he would therefore no longer be entitled to free health care, is he aware of this????? Medical costs in England are more expensive than here.

Hope you find this information helpfull.

You really are quite objectionable, members on this site are assisting another who is not well.
You have stated he should sell his car motorbike and his wife her gold.
I will not go into details you are wrong.
I suggest you P*** off and let the ones that want to help get on with it. :banghead:

Surely Lindosfan he has the right to express his views/opinions regardless of whether he falls into line with the general thinking and hasn't broken the T/C's.

Having analyzed all posts surely individuals will be better able to make up their own minds as to route they wish to go

Richard, he is expressing hearsay he stated he has been told. That is not his opinion it is some one elses. Hearsay is not an opinion.
:offtopic:
Please do not forget that JD is trying to organise a sponsored bar crawl.
Dawn is giving 10% of the door entry and we are holding a guess the photo competition on the same night.
Any donations to the rahffle would be very helpful.
Bill has had some fantastic prizes donated.

OK Lindosfan, I appreciate your comments but hearsay or not it's worth posting for the good of the HHAD community

I'm still trying to organise my skydive to assist too

Think there are many people with question marks about Chris and Dons ability to pay their way. Obviously FACTS (financial status, hospital bills etc) would be a preferable posting but sensitive to the recipients of donated funds

No real solution really but all input surely is welcome

My own personal beliefs are based on evaluating hearsay and facts and forming my own opinion. As I've posted before and got flack for it, I never believe in one source of information/media. I read all newspaper and media sites to get a balance and as you all will know in Hua Hin you can get at least 3 different stories about a specific topic

Well, wasn't going to say anything but have decided to, regardless.

WL is right, start another thread on the merits of the wisdom of having insurance etc, sure a few would reply, this thread seems to have a different slant/purpose.

As Lindos "eloquently" put it, let those that wish to help get on with it in there own way.

Richard, fair enough, just agree with WL that it might be an insensitive position for such posts, if you want to be technical, then "flak" towards thread subject matter is uncalled for/unproductive and quite frankly "bollocks" for lack of a better phrase, without wondering into :offtopic: on this thread. However, valid points and deserve a thread of their own, maybe.

Hokum, a bit "narky" for post 7. You claim not to know this man but many on here do, some even possessing respect for him even though having never met him. I am puzzled why you have attacked this thread and man in quite such contempuous and insensitive way. It leads me to question the truth of what you have said. As a new member you seem a little too interested in the fortunes of a member that has had some misfortune. Try not to kick people when they are down.

Frankly, what you have had to say so far on this thread is :blabla: and unwelcome by many.

However, what you were talking about would make a good seperate thread. You have already had this pointed out to you in one way or another.

careful guys, another thread is in danger of straying in the wrong direction

i'm all for freedom of speech, just sometimes though,it has to tempered with a little bit of sensitivity.
whatever his friends & fellow members of hhad are organising to do in support is a matter for them to decide.
there are no demands, no medals to be handed out, just a simple choice to contribute or not.
that is with either a donation, participation in any of the events or just a simple message of goodwill

i don't know guess personally but i'm sure he will be thankful & humbled by the response of so many friends & hhad members.

this certainly isn't the time or place to discuss his personal finances & openly invade his privacy :? :(
