Depends if you prefer 'American style' tables with the big balls and big pockets, or the longer tighter 'snooker style' one's, I think this is how most people refer to them!?!?

Lucky Shot bar has 4 tables so is possibly the option if pool is your main priority. Otherwise the other bars have tables that are much of a muchness, just wander round and try them out, they're free. There's no real pool bars like you get in Bangkok.

Lucky Shot for sure. No bar has Brunswick tables in Hua Hin, yet.

Seeing as Pool is an American game, I think you have to refer to any other tables as being incorrect; the phenomenon of 'snooker style' tables is because in Britain the game of snooker is more popular so British pubs adopted that type of table/balls scaled down, plus the pubs rarely have room to swing a cat so the 'snooker style' pool tables emerged. There is also the bar billiards connection which used the small balls. There are very clearly defined rules for ball and table sizes to correctly play the game of Pool, but of course there has to be leeway for the venues, and in Hua Hin there is a fairly even split between 'proper' Pool tables and 'British style' ones. In my opinion the best 'proper tables are at Lucky Shot, as they are the only full size pool tables here; after that JWs and Octopussy, followed closely by Bamboo Grove. Nung Bar has a decent table as well. As far as British style tables goes, I'd say London bar, Jungle Juice and U-Turn probably are the best in town, but I haven't played on any of them for some time, and the condition of tables can deteriorate rapidly as they are mostly exposed to the humidity and overuse, and infrequent maintenance that are common everywhere. Interestingly it is rare to find a 'British style' table in Bangkok. The American tables are generally more expensive for the bars to buy, which will often mean they take more care of them, with honourable exceptions for some with other types of tables. Mostly i think the ambience of the bar can be more important than the state of the table though, as if you are a serious pool freak very few of the tables in town are good enough.

WL, see I've never understood this, so is the correct term for a bigger ball, bigger pocket table really just a 'proper pool table', ie: American type. And the one's in say U-Turn, Rose Bar termed as 'British style pool tables' ? Is that about right ?

Personally I prefer the American type as you can clear up 4-5 balls, even if a fairly average player' and a bit more exciting.
The smaller ball, smaller pocket table games can go on for ages.

The easiest table is in Butt Rock, I measured it once and the total pocket openings were 24 inches and the side and end rails were only 22 inches :D

The deciding factor is the size of the balls. The pockets are always (or should be) made for a specific ball size. There are regulations that dictate the size and shape of the pockets but they are not always adhered to especially by the cheaper makes.

Tables are measured between the cushions but rarely are exact. What must be exact is that the width must be half the length.

American Pool balls start at 2.25" and can be as large as 2.5" but are normally 2.375"

Snooker balls range from 1.875" to 2.25" but are generally 2.125". In Hua Hin there are two sizes used.

In Thailand the tables with small balls such as U-Turn, Jungle Juice and Rose Bar are really intended for snooker in venues that do not have space for full sized tables. Snooker is by far the more popular game in Thailand. Bars originally got those tables for playing pool as they were much cheaper than pool tables.

Most pool tables were imported until Everest and Sovereign ramped up their Bangkok manufacturing plants.

I notice many people recommending Lucky Shot and whilst I agree about the standard of the tables I think charging 20 baht per game is a damn cheek in HH. As far as I'm aware the only place that charges, and a lot of the other tables mentioned are very close in quality.
