Best Italian restaurant?

I was wondering which Hua Hin Italian restaurant is generally deemed to be the best in town?

I have been many times and from the few I have tried I think the best 2 are the Pasta Factory (near the hospital) and the restaurant opposite the Hilton (forget the name, but it has always been good).

Does anyone else have a favourite? Taking into account not just food but wine menu, standard of house wine, etc.

Agreed, but some are obviously of a better standard than others. Do you have a particular favourite yourself?

I really like authentic Italian cuisine, which I know you're not going to get in Hua Hin, but whatever resembles it closest gets my approval.

Find in Thailand some sun dried tomatoes, fresh garlic, virgin olive oil, a block of Parmingiano plus some hand made pasta's and I will offer you all one of the best traditionnal Italian cooking ever

Didn't taste that in HH Italian places

Had pizza on the one opposite to the Hilton once, the pizza was ok but the service was TERRIBLE. May have had something to do with coming in there 10 mins before closing time. Maybe they had a bad day. Anyway, can't reccomend it.

The best italian restaurant is Lo Stivale - commonly referred to as 'the one opposite the Hilton'. Having been a visitor to Hua Hin for over 10 years now, this gets my vote and providing your expectations are not too high - remember you are in thailand, not italy, they are good on all fronts, always a favourite of ours for birthdays, anniversaries etc.

The pasta-food is very good.
Can't say same positive thing about the thaifood they serve there though.

Mama Mia and Villa serves pretty good italian food to.

There is one nearly opposite the HH Police Station that I cannot remember the name of that is very good, also the Pizza shop at the start of the road that the Hilton is in.

I've been to at least three of the above mentioned places and from what I've experienced, Lo Stivale was a bit more higher end in terms of price and the food didn't seem any better than Villa, which has become my choice. However, I did have a good Chilean red wine there (Lo Stivale)and haven't been too impressed with the wine at Villa, or anywhere else in Thailand for that matter.

My friend who's third-generation Italian American and a good Italian cook himself, is pretty choosy. The best Italian restaurant we could find in Hua Hin was Amica. The lasagna was moist, unlike the dry stuff we found around the corner, and the pizza was better than we expected. They cooked good food during a blackout!

Sorry, but WHY in heavens go to an Italian restauant when you are in Thailand

i Never vsist Thai restaurants when in Italy, neither do I vist a English restaurant when in Central Europe.

itailin food is very good, do not misunderstand me, but I would prefer to eat it somewhere at least NEAR italy or a place with stong italian bonds.

Couldn't agree more.....if visiting. But if I lived there, then I probably would from time to time.

This reminds me of my last trip, in August. Quite sensibly the G/F had never eaten pizza which she wanted to try(I'm thinking of the average Brit version here). So off we went for a pizza. Except that she didn't like it, but that was okay, as she'd also ordered spaghetti with clams, which she really liked, chips, garlic bread (that didn't appeal either) and another starter I can't recall, that wasn't to her taste either.

Well, I can't see good food wasted - especially when I'm paying. I suffered the consequences and at least when I go for a pizza in future she'll be happy with the pasta!

Amica pizzeria down the small soi?
I like it a lot, like the feeling. The lady who runs it is a nice Isaan woman. Saw her kneeling and praying in the road one morning before opening.

The reason I go to Italian restaurant in Thailand is that I occasionally want italian food.
I need no other reason.

Why, o why deny yourself something you want just because of your current earthly location?

I do drink coffee, use sugar, ice-cream and drink alcohol outside of Arabia Felix. Even if they are Arab inventions.

And I do drink beer outside of Mesopotamia.
