Bomb in Bangkok kills one and injures 24
This situation is not going to improve, a quote from a story in The Nation:
http://nationmultimedia.com/2008/11/20/ ... 088896.phpEarlier, Maj Gen Khattiaya Sawasdiphol, an expert attached to the Army head office, threatened the PAD with bomb attacks, saying if the protesters did not leave the Government House complex soon, they would be attacked with bombs daily.
The explosion also came after Jatuporn Promphan, a personal spokesman of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, quoted the ousted leader as saying there would be no more peace in Thailand.

I suppose this could be a warning to the PAD to stop them doing anything desperate as they are rapidly running out of time.
All indications are that the present government will be gone by the middle of December when the courts dissolve the PPP, so there are only a few weeks left for the PAD to try to impose their nominated parliament by provoking yet another coup.
I’m now cynical enough about Asian politics to the point where you can’t even rule out parties blowing up their own supporters to provoke a coup, although that’s perhaps not the most likely scenario.

This one has been running on the BBC and CNN tickers all day long, about every 3 minutes. Pete

I left BKK (where I have been working for 3 days) for HH today at lunch-time, and had it not been for BBC I would not have known about it...
life went on as usual in BKK it seemed, perhaps a few more police cars around.

The article below came out last week (pretty strong words)...so was there any new violence yesterday? I haven't heard of any...
"Controversial general warns PAD more will die on Sunday
source: The Nation Nov 20 2008
Maj Gen Kattiya Sawasdiphol, a pro-Thaksin army officer, Thursday warned the People's Alliance for Democracy that a massacre would happen Sunday if they hold a mass demonstration in front of Parliament.
"I would like to say that anyone wanting to join the rally should reserve a temple for his or her own funeral," Kattiya said. "Being united, you will be slain in group."
He said the bomb attack inside the Government House early Thursday would not be the last one but PAD opponents would launch bomb attacks against it every night.
Kattiya earlier faced a disciplinary probe for having threatened the PAD with attacks by warriors he had trained. "

There have been two...a second attack came on Saturday morning care of two youths dressed in black and a M79 grenade launcher. Another protester killed, more injured.
This morning someone fired 6 grenade rounds at the ASTV building...no casualties and minimal damage.
Now...considering the General above has been training black clad UDD shock troops where do you think they got a grenade launcher and rounds from.....hmmmm?
Utter madness all round.

Getting more murky all the time. Seems like they can't be stopped from 'taking a running jump' into the abyss. The only one who can end it doesn't seem willing to this time.
It will be revealing and interesting to see just how far they are prepared to let it go before a conclusion is forced to come about.
Hhhmmm, we'll see.
