I was in the local shop tonight buying some beer - probably enough to get four Thai men drunk. A surly woman glanced at me, and my purchases and said 'Falang maow' and then waltzed out into her black pick-up. I really wanted to tell her that I wasn't drunk, I drink beer because I like it (and not because I want to get plastered) and I found her comment insulting. OK, I didn't have the vocab and I'd probably get the tones wrong and tell her she was a slimy cat or something, and I think she was the wife of the Village Head Man - so I said nothing. But I found it insulting. She'd probably be rolling around the floor and singing bad karaoke after one bottle of Spy (or whatever that disgusting, fizzed-up, girly wine drink is called!).
Mr.VS said I was being over-sensitive, but are they really that direct and rude to each other?
And another thing. Mr.VS would never be confused with Twiggy, but I'm fed up with hearing 'Oan maak' (fat) directed towards him. It just ain't funny when you hear it for the 50th time!
Rant over...I'll just pour myself another beer.

....and I'm not drunk!
