Permanent for four and a half years. Haven't been farther away than Bangkok in the last three years and if you read many of my posts you'll see that I'm getting "island fever" and need to get out of this country for a while for an "attitude adjustment" but the economics don't favor it any time soon.
Hua Hin has changed from a quiet town in the five years since I made my decision, into a mini Bangkok and the traffic and lack of parking are making me crazy so I just stay home most of the time to avoid the frustration.
My wife wants to move to Issan so I'd be interested to hear more from you guys who have made that move, and how you feel about it now. Was it a good move for you, or are you bored s**tless living in the boonies? What other problems have you encountered as a farang living in a rural Thai community?

Hi there Y'all
I had been a permanent resident in Hua Hin for 5 years straight (late 1999 to late 2004). Back then I was still a Student of Stamford International University @ Hua Hin Campus. during my five years stay Ifell in Love with the small Fishing Village atmosphere that was still around @ that time. As the years gone by I and many others had witnessed the Transformation of Hua Hin from a small fishing Village into a Major Seaside Town on the Thai Riviiera. Allthough me and my fellow Fellas and Homies from Stamford had witnessed by 1st hand the changes that Hua Hin had been to we still apreciate this place greatly as a place to Chill and let the world go by!!!
Your's The understudy!!!
