Japanese restaurants? / Exorbitant prices at Hagi

Post by huahincharlie »

Are there any Japanese restaurants in Hua Hin other than Hagi? We have been going to Hagi very occasionally for a few months but the prices really are expensive now.

We used to get a bill for 1,500 Baht and last time our bill (and clearly our appetite too) had increased it to over 3,500.

Some of their food has very extortionate prices, such as the kobe beef at 3,000 baht, not that I tried it.

Hi there huahinCharlie

You could try The Fuji Japanese Restaurant @ Hua Hin Market Village second floor. Allthough it is a Japanese Chai Restaurant but it offers a wide variety of good Japanese Cuisine for an affordable price.
Another place which is also on the second floor of the Market Village Mall is a modern Japanese/WEstern Food called YaiYoi. The food is real good the prices are the bset ones in town!!!

I'll cast a positive vote for Fuji too. Extensive menu, much cheaper that Hagi, and the food is very good. We eat Sushi there about once a week and never had a bad experience. Also, for steak lovers, they have a steak set (good beef cut into bite sized pieces) with soup and extras that is not only good but it is probably the best steak deal in town (at lunch, I think the price goes up at night) for only around b150. :thumb:

Haven't tried Yaiyoi... is it new?

The wife eats in the mall a lot and I just asked her about Yaiyoi and she claims it's Korean, not Japanese. :?

Ba baa, nothing can replace MK! It is always packed and probably the most popular eatery in the mall. ( ( Not popular with me though. .I dont remember ever eating there or wanting to.)

Yao Yoi is a subsidiary of MK as I understand it and we eat there about once a week. I remember it being there for a long time. . probably since the mall opened? Best prices in the mall certainly and good food. .nice selection.

Korean? Not so sure about that and I dont remember any reference or claim to it being so anywhere . .or Korean food on the menu. It has a Japanese look to it though . . .but then, I have not been to Korea and am totally unfamiliar with Korean cuisine.

Fuji is also excellent and we often eat there too.

As Chas said, its part of the MK Group, I'd never noticed it in Market Village.

I don't like the hot pot type places. I always have them put out the fire under those soup serving bowls even at Thai restaurants. It's hot enough here; the last thing I want is to be sitting in the vicinity of an open flame! :sun:

Hi there Y'All

MK Restaurant and it's Hot Pot style food is pnly good for many people @ once. it makes way more fun that way. Imagine one guy would eat @ an MK Restaurant and sits in front of a Hot Pot and cooks the food all by himself doesn't it look'n sound silly?
For that reason MK has also One Plate Dishes for all of us to enjoy.
My absolute favorite thing @ MK are the Green Noodles. There must be a secret recetie that makes the, green nooddles so tasty.

Menu looks interesting (but I'm hungry now) and cheap enough.

A couple Korean influences it looks like.

Not to hijack the thread, but is there a Korean restaurant in town? First wife was Korean and I love the food. Their cold noodle would be good for the heat.

Didnt know there was an Mk in Hua Hin, Then again ive nevr spent huge amounts of time really exploring the market village.
I Went to one in Big C, Bang Yai, Nonthaburi First time I ever tried jellyfish. Sukiyaki was the name for what was cooking/boiling or being served, Is that the name of the dish or cooking method?
