New PM

Post by robby hh »

I see on the news that tomorrow parliament will vote on a new PM

Brings to mind the old bible quote " Let he who is without sin throw the first stone"

Speaker of the house:
First we must see who is fit for the job, Would all those who are without sin please remain seated all others leave the house now.

Oh the place is empty what do we do now?

Samak has already been nominated by the PPP, he'll be re-elected tomorrow. Here we go again. This guy is dancing with the devil though, look out. Pete :(

He's already got one record - first Thai PM to be ordered from office by the court.

If he gets back in, which is still a maybe, then he could go for a double record - the first Thai PM to be imprisoned whilst in power.

That libel judgment is due on the 25th....and it don't look good for Mr S.

Or don't the PPP think that far ahead?....sorry.....silly question.

And for his hat-trick .... getting booted out of office and then voted back in all in the same week

Politics, the most unethical business the world over ? (no property comments please :D )

It seems to me that they would be better off putting someone else forward.
There are two more cases coming before the courts and if they consider two cooking programmes such a serious offense it’s obvious that Samak is never going to survive more than a couple of weeks anyway.
Actually it would be fairer all around to call an election.
The problem I see for the future is going to be finding a PM from any party that has absolutely no outside interests because now a precedent has been set by the courts, an opposition party is going to investigate any candidate and file a case for the slightest infringement.

There was more than one SMS from the BKK Post today referencing "a call from London.." prior to the PPP decision to re-nominate him. Not really a big surprise, is it?

There were also Thai and English opinion/editorials today from some very respected people using the four letter word ending in double L, which he must now be very careful of. If that sould happen, indeed this whole country will go up in a fire storm, probably. Pete

This is why we need a completely new brand of politician, preferably one that is younger than Yoda and doesn't have more business interests than Richard Branson.

Not much chance of that though, its exactly the reason most people get into politics to start with, if they gave a rats arse about people they'd be in the temple!

I’m struggling to see how anyone with absolutely no business interests is going to have the clout to run a country like Thailand in the present situation.

The ones with so called business sense have made a clusterf**k of it so far (apart from expanding their own business empires) so I can't see it making much difference.

Samak's "arrogant" dreams of a quick political return seem to have ended.

Former Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej's hope for a political comeback suffered a severe blow this morning when his allies both outside and within the ruling party boycotted a special House session to select a new chief executive.

The allies disapproval of Samak's re-instatement forced the boycott. The House is scheduled to convene again next Wednesday to elect a new prime minister, but Samak's chances now appear doomed.

All eyes are on the coaltion partners now, as none of them sent MPs to join the urgent House session. Even senior PPP leaders are acknowledging that the possibility of Samak's return has caused widespread conflicts.

Thought: I reckon he's well and truly overcooked now!
