american products

Post by whittler »

The last time I was in Pattaya, I went to a I guess a supermarket, and
asked for peanutbutter. No one knew what I was asking for. Is there
a store that sells american products ?

Here in Bangkok Peanut Butter in many varieties is available everywhere. Some brands are American (I think). Certainly Foodland, Tops, Villa have it. But I beleive that places like Big C, Tescos, etc... also have.

Maybe it wasn't a supermarlet that you were in!

Next time if you can't find it, ask for "noai tua", which literally translates to 'butter nut' more or less. The first word is tough, it is not noi (like in "small") or nuay (like in sleepy/tired). Do your best. The word tua should clue them in. It is all over the place though, Thai kids now have a taste for it. Pete

Or in fast food restaurants like McDonalds, Burger King, and Kentucky Fried Chicken! :lach:

:offtopic:

Two American brands of peanut butter, Jiff and Skippy, are widely available here even in the Thai supermarkets (HH Shopping Mall, G-Market) and in most of the family Chinese markets as well as Villa and Tesco. They have both the smoooooooth and the crunchy. Ummm, think I'll go make myself a PBJ for lunch!

That would be very embarrassing . In my job I carried a PR 24 a type
of baton, and I left it at a cafe I ate lunch at. I missed it after I got out on the street. I had a red face when I went back to retrieve it.

Yes Smith, and Winchester are good guns, in fact there are many, but
I find the Glock althoughh ugly as a brick, fits my hand better and has
less felt recoil.

Baa Baa, I don't understand.

Another americanism that has me confused is "Spare ribs"

I have examined many animals both inside and out but have never been able to find where they carry their spare ribs.

Perhaps JD could enlighten me?
