So what are everybodys Favourite Firefox Add-ons?

In no particular order. (Although I do love Cooliris)

1:Cooliris https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5579

A great way to view online photos and videos (Flickr,Youtube etc) and "Discover" the News, Movie reviews etc section is very nicely done.

2:GooglePreview https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/189

Inserts thumbnails for websites on Google, should be standard IMO

3:Fast Dial https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5721

Quick and easy

4:Screengrab! https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1146

Saves what you can see in the window, the entire page, just a selection, a particular frame... basically it saves webpages as images.

5:Who is this person? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1912

Gives you info from Wiki and others on the name you've highlighted on any website.

6:Tabscope https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... pe&cat=all

Simply does a preview popup for your Tabs.

7:Flagfox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... ox&cat=all

Displays a country flag in the status bar depicting the location of the current website's server.

HHAD is in America.

Good but you will spend some time after first installation to create a whitelist for HHAD topic list for example.

I slo use Add Blocker but cannot find a URL now. It may have been replaced by Adblock plus at

Forgive me for being stupid but, some of the contents of this Digital Realm go straight over my head.
I have recently purchased Slingbox, new to me, but some of you guys may know about it, anyway it enables me to watch Sky television any where in the world, on my laptop, through my Sky set top box in my house in the U.K.
In the U.K. the picture and programmes are crystal clear, but here because of the slow internet connection speeds, it is just about watchable, and because of the slow buffering speeds, my question is would something like Firefox, give me a faster connection speed.
If any of you guys can help, please reply in language that a Lancashire lad can relate to.

Simple answer is no. It's all about the broadband connection speed.

KK is correct but there are config changes that may help.

What is your line speed in the UK and what is it here in Thailand.

I thinks you should respond to this in another thread. I think you will find there already is a thread on Internet TV. I will watch out for it.

It may also be possible to capture the stream and play it back later. I do this already with other video streaming programs.

1 of the reasons I love FF is Customising it.
I've only just found this.

It takes at least 3mm off your Toolbar.

I'm a bit of a Firefox newbie. I tried it for a couple of weeks and went back to IE because it was doing nothing more for me - in fact in several instances it was doing less.

I know that I must be wrong, but for some reason I don't feel confident enough to experiment with add ons

I would like to give it another go, but before I do, I would like to read some sort of instructional document - is there such a beast? If there is, where can I get it please? Will it tell me about all of these add ons, and what they do?

My suspicion is that there maybe something in your environment that may be affecting FF.

I use FF 90% and IE 7 10%. Some sites I use are meant to screw up with FF and only work properly with IE so rather than risk damage I open them with IE.

Out of the two browsers I have found FF to be the more intuitive. The add ons don't really need any level of expertise. Once you have found one you want the install procedure does everything.

What security (firewall, AV and AS) are you using. Firewalls in particular have caused me problems and I have now gone back to the standard windows firewall.
