Thai Buddhism's Supreme Patriarch dies at 100.

Looks like the bars will be closed tonight and for a few days according to my g/f. This man was a personal friend of HM The King of Thailand.

Re: Physiotherapist in Hua Hin

Hi, I need to see a physio for a lower back problem (I saw a sports physio at home - UK - for a while earlier this year but the problem has come back). Does anyone have any recent experience of either of the physiotherapists mentioned on this thread (on Soi 102 and Soi 88) or any others? Any opinio...

Re: BLOOD TESTS and the like

Just out of curiosity what tests would they do on a 'general checkup' and how much would it cost? A Basic checkup include: 1. Complete blood count which includes haemoglobin, White Blood Count, Platelet Count etc. 2. Blood chemistry, i.e. Blood Sugar level, Uric Acid, Cholesterol, Liver Function, K...

Re: Contact Lenses

UPDATE: I may have the answer to my own original question. I've spoken to a senior member of Customs who I met a while back when I was hit for some import duty and he says that I will be taxed on anything that is brought into Thailand if the value exceeds 1000 Baht. When I said that these were conta...

Contact Lenses

I need a particular type of Contact Lens and have tried to find them everywhere here in HH and further afield without success. My brother can ship them from the UK but the question is:- Will they be subject to import tax/duty?

Re: Venice comes to Hua Hin

Getting back to the OP regarding "floating market" type attractions. I have not been impressed with any of the floating markets that I have visited in Thailand until I visited "Amphawa" a few weeks ago. Crowded yes, but good produce and had an authentic feel to the place.

Re: Red Bull exec's kid arrested for fatal running over of c

If this "Death Match Derby" is true I find it totally bizarre and sends a wrong message to the world. If guilty of murder these people should be hanged, shot, electrocuted or spend the rest of their days in prison, but to make a spectacle like this and then air it on TV is ridiculous and ...

Takiap

My condolences to you and to the family of your deceased friend. My wife died of cancer 18 months ago and it wasn't pleasant for her at all. It can however be destroying for those left behind to grieve as well so my feelings are with the family even though I don't know them.

Re: Anti-graft Pol. Col. to be moved for being too good

This is a revealing and good read. Seems that the Chief of the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) is likely to be moved in a reshuffle soon and speculation points to it being due to his effective and zealous pursuit of politicians that have been up to no good. Even when you get a Colon...
