Re: The new tallest building in Thailand looks like a pixelated image in mid-download
I think it looks like something from a post-apocalyptic movie. Ugly. (Hey, mods: we need a vomit smilie.)

Re: Hua Hin declared as a rabies stricken state
If an animal is in advanced stages of rabies where they are pretty much in a blind rage, would even a direct hit with a solid pole in any way deter them?

Re: Southern rail line reopens after crossing smash
Aren't high-speed rail lines usually built on raised platforms/land so that there are no grade-level crossings?

Re: Hua Hin - Suvarnabhumi Airport VIP bus crash
FWIW, on one of my several Hua Hin-to-Pattaya Bell Travel trips last month, our "VIP bus" rear-ended a truck on a Bangkok freeway. Low speed collision, no injuries, but the bus was damaged enough that it couldn't continue on the journey: http://www.wpcoe.com/images/bus.jpg We waited 40 min...

Re: skin cancer
If it truly is skin cancer, like the "common" basal cell carcinoma, proper treatment (after a biopsy to confirm) is surgical removal. It is necessary to get the basal cell(s) at the bottom of the skin layer, and laser/nitrogen usually doesn't go that deep.

Re: Dengue fever in Hua Hin?
Is the fog actually an insecticide or just a diesel exhaust cloud? I had always thought the guys who walk around with a leaf blower type of device spewing clouds of grey smoke were actually spreading toxic clouds of insecticide, but then I read where they are basically diesel engines emitting plumes...

Re: Snake bites
From what I've read/heard, other than the Malayan pit viper, most snakes will, given the chance, flee rather than fight a human. If you don't cage them in/block their exit, they will make an escape at their earliest convenience. That assumes, of course, that you know they are there. All of my encoun...

Re: Glasses (optical variety)
Why one eye? I am told, although have never tried it, they can give you contact lenses of different strengths for each eye, in effect bi-focal and the brain will adapt, giving you (near) perfect vision at all distances. Also told that this does not suit eveyone. That's referred to as monovision, an...

Re: MRSA in Thailand
Actually Over here, as I'm sure you are aware, anti bacterial dispensers are placed at every hospital entrance, at the entrance to the wards and every nurse and doctor uses them between patients. Nurses and doctors also change gloves and aprons between patients to reduce cross contamination. Bedste...

Re: Dengue fever in Hua Hin?
The last couple weeks I've noticed a couple daytime-active mosquitoes in my house. Not sure how they get in. They are very dark colored, but aren't the dengue ones supposed to be striped or spotted? Also, to my dismay, even when hit with a direct blast of Tesco's Baygon-clone spray, they keep flying...

Re: Dengue fever in Hua Hin?
A couple weeks ago a cluster of people were canvassing here on Soi 80 to spread awareness of dengue and dispensing a powder to coat standing water. (They dumped some down the semi-open sewer grate outside my home.) Not sure if they were Red Cross, government/NGO agency, or hospital personnel. Their ...

Re: Thailand to release generic anti-impotence drug Silagra
Sidegra is simply a generic version of the same chemical compound (sildenafil) that comprises Viagra, so I doubt it would be any safer or less safe.

Re: Thailand to release generic anti-impotence drug Silagra
A Google search indicates that SIDEGRA (pictured above) is the new Thai FDA-approved, GPO-produced generic Viagra , and SILAGRA is just another of the many (illegally?) imported generic versions. Several web pages in the Google search results say Silagra is produced by Cipla, but going to the Cipla ...
