Re: Thai Expressions That Make Me Smile
Roel. Forget the dialect, it's just lazy.
When a Thai ever says that to me, I always ask the question...
Lor Luah or ror rua? Then they smile and pronounce it correctly.
That's why I like to listen to the Thai news. Correct pronounciation.

Roel.
Re. Jing lueee.
It's a mispronounciation by Thia's.
I think what they are really saying is...จริงเหรอ? (really?)
Charleyboy.

I've been a member at Lake View Golf for about 7 years.
The last 3 years I've never had to book a tee time in the high season.
First 4 years during the high season, you didn't stand an "earthly" without booking.
Maybe it's just the golfers that aren't coming.

Re: The future of English teaching
I've got teaching certificates and have taught in Thailand for over 7 years.
I speak, read and write Thai.
I think that being able to converse with Thai "kids" in their mother tongue is advantageous.
All my foreign language teachers in the UK when I was growing up happened to be...English!

It is my belief that even in the poorest schools, talent will show through.
Totally agree with you Bigboy.

Re: Free Education In Thailand
I teach English one day per week at a local school here in Cha-am.
I do it free for the children.
I like to give a little bit back to the community.
And before you start saying, you're not allowed to...
I don't give a flying f@@k.

Re: Somtawin ejecting kids with late paying parents
I've read all the posts on this branch and it appears to me to be a sorry state of affairs. I agree with a lot that Norseman and Spitfire have to say. A little disgruntled with sime of E-Dorks remarks. I was born in the 50's and from what you are espousing, I and many others in my country of origin ...

Re: Please?
I use the word Kor all the time when asking for something.
It has been pointed out to me on several occassions that this is incorrect when asking for something that has to be paid for.
I'm sticking with Kor because it seems polite but I'm with E-Dork on its correct usage.

Re: Transliteration Explained (maybe)
Nice post. When I started to study the Thai writing system some of the hardest words that I found to read were, English words taken from the English language and used over here. Town house and bungalow being just 2 of them. Why the garan over the N in town and the S in house? It took me several minu...

Re: Political un-rest and rally
The next couple of months would have seen 4 family members plus 4 friends visit me from the UK.
They have all cancelled their flights/holidays.
I'm just a small fish in a big pond.
What is the true effect on the economy?
