Re: Buying glasses in Hua Hin

I followed the recommendations and visited Dr. Pairat to obtain a new pair of glasses. I was very pleased with the entire experience. Dr. Pairat and his staff speak excellent English and he took the time to explain everything in detail and in language I could understand. The vision tests he administ...

Re: Buying glasses in Hua Hin - price comparison ?

Over the last 5 years I’ve bought several pair of progressive lens glasses, always from Top Charoen, usually at Market Village, with good results. I’ve noticed there are eyeglass shops other than Top Charoen at Market Village and other places in town. I’m going to need a new pair soon and I’m wonder...

Re: New waste water bill, is it a scam?

Our waste water goes into underground circular concrete tanks, from where it then leaches into the ground. There are separate tanks for each of the 4 bathrooms, and each bathroom has separate tanks for sewer and greywater. Each type of water (sewer and greywater) has 2 tanks, a primary tank where th...

New waste water bill, is it a scam?

I’ve lived here for years and am very familiar with the monthly water bill and where to pay it. The normal water bill has a section for wastewater, on mine the charge is listed as zero. My normal bill arrived last week, delivered by the motorcycle courier that drives from house to house, delivering ...

Re: Car body repair shop in Hua Hin

It finally happened, someone pulled out from a side road and crunched the side door panels of my car as I was driving by, crunching my car with their left front corner. Definitely not my fault. I’m fully insured, my broker recommended I take my car to either L Service Garage (across from the Palace)...

Re: New pedestrian overpass for Market Village

I tried out the new overpass today, appears it is now formally opened and complete. It looks very nice and I didn’t notice any problems with the riser height of both stairways I used. It appeared the coating on the edge of the stair steps is wearing off already, wasn’t sure if it was just paint or s...

Re: Where to buy Grass Seed

Has anybody found where to buy grass seed ? I know about and have used the sod method of laying or repairing a lawn, but I’d really like to experiment with seed for repairing some of the smaller areas.

Re: Ceiling Fans

When I moved into my house 3 years ago, the 3 fans on the outdoor terrace were barely functional. They may have been 11 years old, if they were installed new when the House was built. They did not have any name brand markings. I did a lot of research and settled on the Mitsubishi model C56-RQ5 as re...

Re: A few online Thai Language starting points

One of my favorite websites is https://www.thai2english.com
I’ve found it to be much more accurate than google. I also paid the license fee and installed their windows based client software, it links to their internet backend and has a wealth of resources that aren’t available on the free website.

Re: Interpreter needed for tessaban visit

I use my Thai language teacher, at Sirada Learning Centre for this exact same service. Her name is Kruu Oh. She is out today but back in the office tomorrow. SIRADA is located on the ground floor of 83/14 Wongchomsin Building, about 100 meters (maybe 150 meters) south of the Tessaban traffic lights ...

Re: Where can I get spare water tank lids?

Never seen just the lids for sale, good luck. I would probably craft some new ones using wood, and paint them well with oil based paint for durability.

Re: New Year beach parties ??

The fireworks barge is anchored directly offshore of soi 75/1 this year, about a kilometer or 2 farther north than in years past. Easy enough to walk along in this area until you find a party.

Re: Pipe and drain unblocking

Thank you ! I’ve been searching for a plumber with an auger machine for a couple years now, unsuccessfully. My problem pipe is 6” in diameter, do you know if he can address larger pipes like this ?
