Re: new international school near black mountain

I think they will have to (and I heard a rumour they might) reduce their fees. Asking that sort of Bangkok-type fee is not really practical for Hua Hin, they would have very few students I'd say.

New School on Soi 102

Not sure if its opened yet but there is a new school being constructed on Soi 102 - Thai, English and Chinese taught. Looks quite good.

Anyone got more info?

Re: Snake bites

What kind of snakes are common to Hua Hin? In our 7 years here I recall 3 types of snake visiting our house - and being mostly kept at bay by our 2 great Thai dogs: 1. Cobra - we had 2, obviously very poisonous 2. A green snake climbing banana tree in garden - I think this is a garden snake from sea...

Re: Train Crash Soi 94

Terrible, Terrible..........I take that crossing so often.

My sympathies for I assume the girl that died...such a needless waste of life. I hope its a lesson to others, I'll certainly be taking more precaution if i go that way again.

Re: Oil massage prices

Actually the price can vary depending on the location, if you are in a relatively modern, clean place or a shop within a hotel or shopping mall, you can probably expect to pay a bit more than in somewhere that doesn't have the same level of hygiene!

Re: International Schools

Dom77 - disagree with you and I've yet to meet a single parent who has a bad word to say about Yamsaard. I've had kids in both Somtawin and Yamsaard and the quality of Yamsaard is much superior. My daughter is bilingual and admittedly has lost some of her English in favour of ThaiEnglish, but her be...

Sorry Wendy, I think Yamsaard only go to about 14 Grade 10 - although someone may correct me, I do recall this being an issue with the school

Re: International Schools

I do recommend Yamsaard..the downside is its Thai in the playgrounds so your childs English ability drops (if they are young), but the school is very well run, teachers are good, and management really care about the development of the kids...most expats with kids there speak positively about it and ...

Re: International Schools

My view Somtawin - Holiday camp & run for profit Halio - Too small with mixed ages in classes - a bit of Montessori type culture, not got proper school status either Yamsaard - best school in Hua Hin, but only up to certain age level Best options for teenage kids in my view is to send overseas o...

Re: Ex-Thai PM 'to face murder charge'

Hope they throw the book at them both - they criticized police for using extensive force by throwing tear gas at the yellow shirts a few weeks ago, but their decision to deploy snipers with live ammo against country folk was 'measured'?

Re: Beware of Somtawin school. Not paying salary

Somtawin has truly gone to the dogs. I see from the latest PTC document that things are going from bad to worse to awful, with total disregard from the school director.

Glad I finally managed to find another option for my daughter and removed her.

Re: Medical Checkup @ Bangkok Hospital, Bangkok

I did both Bumrungrad and BH (Hua Hin). Bumrungrad was a much better experience. BH Hua Hin were just not as well organised or professional, moreover, they messed-up in providing me with my final report - took a long time to get it. Bumrungrad was busy but conveyor-belt type system meant I was able ...

Re: Monsoon blows waste onto Hua Hin beach

It was really bad this weekend, I could not do my regular weekend jog along the beach as the rubbish was everywhere and included everything! I saw doctors prescription plastic bags, bottles, tins, packets of mama noodles, bamboo, coconuts, dead fish, even one of those scary looking crab things. I di...
