Re: Thai driver licens final driving test
Hi Toy
Yes no problem. I passed mine there years ago, driving an automatic car.
I did not have to sit written exam, just the brake test, eye test etc.
Did not even have to drive my car!
Good luck.

I dont understand, how can you know if you not drive to the test?
It's not me there have to make the test, it's a Thai and I quite sure she have to make the test.
I just want to be sure she can make the test in my car, there are automatic.

Re: Thai driver licens final driving test
Toy, I drove to the test centre in my own car, which was an automatic.
I took the parts of the test that I have mentioned and passed.
I was not required to drive my car as part of the test. I was then issued
With a licence which allowed me to drive an automatic car in Thailand.
I did not have to do full test as I had a full Uk licence but was, at the time, driving on a IDL, which was due to expire. Hence the need for Thai licence.
Don't worry, just get your friend to rock up at the test centre with your car and do the test. It is so easy to do and the driving part my 6 year old son could pass.
I'm not sure if you have to book a test slot now, but back then it was not required.
They maybe have to show their ID etc, but not sure. Maybe someone else will
Post what is required for Thai taking the test.
I'm not sure, but I think the test covers manual and automatic cars.
Good luck to your friend.

Re: Thai driver licens final driving test
Toy, when you do the practical part of the test out the back of the test centre, you can drive any car with any gearbox. You will see that almost all the cars used for taking the test are automatic so she should be fine in the automatic.
The driving licence doesn't seem to be different here for auto or manual. Also the motorbike license isn't different for auto, manual or even engine size!! Crazy but TIT!

Rules must have changed.
I just rocked up in the morning early, took the multiple choice test and a reaction test, lined up 2 straws in a box, identified I was not colour blind, went for lunch and then took a drive around a car park with a few manoeuvres which were demonstrated first. I needed a medical certificate, tabien baan, my landladies ID card, proof of address and my passport. My Thai partner had to watch hours of video and attend a lecture from the police but she certainly did not have to book.

That has been mentioned previously. You may have better luck at Cha Am, just beware of the dragon that lurks behind the desk!Toy wrote:A littel late, sorry. It's possible to take the test in automatic car.
