Premier League 2023-24
Re: Premier League 2023-24
The problem with a team like Utd is the fans demand success, and whoever gets the job has to hit the ground running, Nobody can hit the ground with the current squad and manage more than a slow crawl/walk.
Even if there was a huge clear out, and a lot of new blood brought in, the new blood will still be trial and error - highly unlikely anybody will get it right first time. By the time the new boss has settled, identified his weak spots (11 at the moment), the fans are usually calling for his head.
The sooner Utd fans realise it won't happen overnight the better. Give a new boss sufficient time to build a winning team, and not force kneejerk errors whilst demanding instant success on the way. Only then might they become a footballing force again. If winning was as easy as Man Utd fans demand, numerous teams would be doing it as well.

Re: Premier League 2023-24
Seems/sounds like they are breaking all "unwanted" records. The squad and costs need to be cut and perhaps this is why Hag hasn't gone yet - after all, how much would it cost to remove him? Is it better to keep him for the final year of his contract and bin half of the overpaid, underperforming, petulant tw@ts that take to the field?
Something that is needed in the EPL is a Salary Cap - perhaps then some of these ludicrous salaries can be curtailed and some real competition for playing positions (rather than cars and bling). Apparently there is some talk about this happening, but would it ever be to realistic levels? I doubt it...

Well, by all accounts they do nothing in the EPL! And pretty doubtful ANY league would or could take them all..... Unfortunately.

Re: Premier League 2023-24
No easy solution for the Utd conundrum and as BB suggests, whether Ten Hag stays or goes, the manager has a massive challenge of getting rid of some (quite a lot) of the dead wood and bringing new blood in - which barring a miracle will take some time to gel into a cohesive team. Will the fans be patient - these days probably not, everyone expects instant success!!

He could conceivably win the FA CupDannie Boy wrote:No easy solution for the Utd conundrum and as BB suggests, whether Ten Hag stays or goes, the manager has a massive challenge of getting rid of some (quite a lot) of the dead wood and bringing new blood in - which barring a miracle will take some time to gel into a cohesive team. If he does and gets 5/6th then most Boards would give him another year
If he loses and comes 8th I think he'll be sacked IF they have a replacement in mind

I’d consider it a gross dereliction of duty, if the Utd Board didn’t have 2 or 3 possible replacements in mind given the results!!thecolonel wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 11:31 pmHe could conceivably win the FA CupDannie Boy wrote:No easy solution for the Utd conundrum and as BB suggests, whether Ten Hag stays or goes, the manager has a massive challenge of getting rid of some (quite a lot) of the dead wood and bringing new blood in - which barring a miracle will take some time to gel into a cohesive team. Re: Premier League 2023-24
After today’s results the relegation situation is virtually confirmed with Sheffield Utd, Burnley and Luton going down unless by some bizarre possibility that Forest lose their last game (against Burnley) and Luton beat Fulham by more than 12 goals - not even a drunken millionaire would waste too much on getting that outcome.
At the top of the table City maintained their current form by easily beating Fulham 4-0 and piling the pressure on Arsenal who have a tricky (on paper) away fixture against Man Utd tomorrow!! A great result would be for Arsenal to win tomorrow, City to draw against Spurs on Tuesday leaving both teams on 86 points and one game left next Sunday, meaning both teams would be forced to go out trying to score as many goals as possible - doubt it will happen but great if it does!!

'Moyes receives fitting send-off at end of West Ham era'
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/arti ... 7dz4pyw44o
David Moyes got the send-off he deserved at London Stadium on Saturday.
A lovely warm day, a clear blue sky, a thrilling victory and a final goal from a home-grown youngster. It could not have gone much better.
As he made his way around the pitch, trailing his players on their annual end of season lap of appreciation, Moyes waved at fans, having signed autographs beforehand.
The warm and genuine acknowledgement at a job well done came back from the stands. The majority of a 60,000-plus crowd remained long after the final whistle......

Wasn't there a bit where Forrest might still be deducted points?Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 2:46 am After today’s results the relegation situation is virtually confirmed with Sheffield Utd, Burnley and Luton going down unless by some bizarre possibility that Forest lose their last game (against Burnley) and Luton beat Fulham by more than 12 goals - not even a drunken millionaire would waste too much on getting that outcome.
As for the title, well it looks like being the usual then... Sad really as it seems pretty obvious that they've broken countless rules over the years. Would have been nice to see Liverpool give JK a cracking send off, but unfortunately not to be. Several players to disappear there also perhaps.
Talking of players (possibly) leaving clubs, it seems Manure are not the only side looking at making wholesale changes - I hear upto 12 Spurs squad members could also be on the market - is that right?

Re: Premier League 2023-24
No idea if that's right or not, but there are definitely a few in the squad who've never quite cracked it at Spurs, like Bryan Gil and Sessegnon, and also a few who don't quite fit the Postecoglou high-speed high-press style, like Hojbjerg. Spurs will look to be up there in the top 4, challenging for the title in the next year or two, and they'll need a stronger squad to do that, bringing in 4 or 5 players from defense to attack.
This is the way

Apparently any further points deduction won’t affect them until next season!!pharvey wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 5:05 pmDannie Boy wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 2:46 am After today’s results the relegation situation is virtually confirmed with Sheffield Utd, Burnley and Luton going down unless by some bizarre possibility that Forest lose their last game (against Burnley) and Luton beat Fulham by more than 12 goals - not even a drunken millionaire would waste too much on getting that outcome.

Certainly not the report I had read (or seen) and I'm not a visitor to "football.london" , but it's certainly similar (though now 13 players).... https://www.football.london/tottenham-h ... o-28973195dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 5:28 pm No idea if that's right or not, but there are definitely a few in the squad who've never quite cracked it at Spurs, like Bryan Gil and Sessegnon, and also a few who don't quite fit the Postecoglou high-speed high-press style, like Hojbjerg. Bit strange though isn't it? It could well have meant their own demotion and the survival of Luton. Pretty sure the financial impact of being or not being in the Premiership has effected a fair number of lives player and staff-wise.Dannie Boy wrote: ↑Sun May 12, 2024 5:41 pm Apparently any further points deduction won’t affect them until next season!!
Pretty cruel really....
