Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
OK, Surely I'm not the only person to drive along past the new 'monstrosity' sorry, rail station, & see the 2 rail-lines between it & the road...& think how the hell do people physically get to that station..? Where's the access for cars, tuk-tuks, taxis etc..?? If there's no fence it'll be like India where folk just walk directly over the lines..555
I honestly think the 2 remaining lines should have been routed BEHIND the station..but possibly (well this IS Thailand)..They'll put the pick-up/drop off points at the golf-course side of the new station & have a (wait for it) ..another level crossing over the 2 lines and an access road ffs...

I'm not totally sure but I was driving past a few times last month and I thought they were building some kind of pedestrian tunnel to the road on the town side. I could be mistaken but it looked something like that.
Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
Yes, the you tube vids here show the tunnel.
Talk is cheap
Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
Yes, there is a tunnel under the tracks. But I don't know how one will safely cross the road, which will then be much wider!
Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
I'm fairly sure that on a recent drone video, they showed the access road being built alongside the golf course.

As far as I understand it, there is a pedestrian tunnel under the (what will be goods train tracks). There doesn't appear to be any facility for traffic on this side. I've always assumed that the main entrance will be on the golf course side.
I've noticed that the klong is being filled in what's always been referred to as the 'klong road'. My guess is the road there will be widened and extended to meet what will be a dual carriageway on the east side of the station and probably a turning to enter the station from the golf course side. That would mean a road going at the back of the station all the way to soi 88.
There's a lot to be done. Time will tell.

And this is the point I was making weeks ago. With such a major road going North/South, having to cross it, and a railway will split the town into Hua Hin East and Hua Hin West.

Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
Once the road is widened on the east side, there could be a further tunnel under the road or a foot bridge. Surely, someone has thought this through or am I dreaming?
Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
It will take numerous traffic tunnels. It isn't just people access, unless the railway is going to cut vehicular traffic by 75%, moving East/West or vice versa will become a challenge. I just can't see any sensible way through once a major road appears alongside the railway.

Don’t worry, I’m sure they’ve learnt from these two!!

Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
I can see a tunnel being just the right solution . . . in the rainy season.
Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
I'm sure it'll be pumped. They managed to build a metro in BKK without flooding helped by flood barriers and pumps so certainly 'doable'.
Re: Just HOW are folk going to get to the new rail station?
Well the pumping station on 102 appears to work, although noisy. Keeping a couple of tunnels dry shouldn't be a problem.
