A good investment for Thai Baht?
Re: A good investment for Thai Baht?
As this appears to have turned into "find a bank' discussion the following should be noted.
The original Bangkok Bank near Soi 55 is the same as many old Bangkok Bank buildings around Thailand.
It is built over an underground carpark, and the only way to get inside is up endless stairs, which I, and many others, can no longer manage.
There is another "branch" outside of Boonthavon, which also has stairs, but just a couple, which even I can manage. The last time that I was in there a very good English speaker was only too happy to help me.

That's one of the reasons I hated going to the main BKK bank branch. Having gone down the slope and maneuvered your car into a space, then it was a real trek to get into the bank.

Something to be aware of for JASIF investors ...
All eyes on AIS after JASIF resolution
Advanced Info Service's (AIS) plan to acquire fixed broadband provider Triple T Broadband (TTTBB) and invest 19% in Jasmine Broadband Internet Infrastructure Fund (JASIF) is now shrouded in uncertainty after JASIF unitholders rejected AIS's proposed amendments to optical fibre cable (OFC) rental agreements between TTTBB and JASIF.
The market is watching AIS's response to the resolution, following a meeting of JASIF's unitholders on Tuesday.

Jasif is also investing in one of the NFT's and that has brought down Jasif's value.
Re: A good investment for Thai Baht?
Bumping this ... does anyone have any other investment tips for THB (can PM if you don't want to post)?
Interest rates here are non-existent so savings are a waste of time, gold/commodities markets appear manipulated, and property is illiquid and restricted. Haven't dabbled in Thai stocks, but they too appear manipulated and controlled by insiders and whales.
Having money in Thailand does appear to be a devaluing dead duck.

Another option for investment is property with a guaranteed return. I've looked at the Carapace development on Khao Tao beach. They have studio apartments at 3.1M baht with a 5% return guaranteed for five years. The project is complete and operates also as a hotel managed by Best Western. The return is certainly attractive when compared to interest rates from banks, for example, though how solid the actual guarantee is and what happens after five years are open questions...
Re: A good investment for Thai Baht?
Very skeptical about promises made by property developers. The returns are dependent on a guaranteed rental market ... which is not guaranteed. Another problem with property (aside from the ownership/legal issues being a farang) is that it is illiquid - how many condos are there for sale in Hua Hin?

Can you invest back in the UK?
Re: A good investment for Thai Baht?
The best investment that you can make with Thai Baht is to go to a shipping company and hire a container for you goods and chattels; then a travel agent and buy an air ticket out!

Re: A good investment for Thai Baht?
Sort of ... sending THB to WISE to take advantage of their interest rates on GBP and USD is a good option.

Aren't those 'guaranteed returns' added to the price you purchased at, they're simply giving you your money back whilst earning interest on all of it themselves up front. I mean why not just reduce the price by that amount?berlinmichael wrote: ↑Wed Aug 16, 2023 10:19 am Another option for investment is property with a guaranteed return. I looked at those Carapace appartments and the ones on the bottom with pool access were all snapped up by one guy I was told! Dozens of them.
Back on track anyone holding those JASIF investments, how are they performing now?
Re: A good investment for Thai Baht?
