Eastern Oriental Express

Post by Gus »

Do any BM's know the approximate time the above train comes through Hua Hin?
I think northbound it is probanly 4am ish, southbound I am guessing 5pm ish
I understand that Thai Railways times are not very reliable.

Without major stops, if any, should be fairly on time, though the others by SRT are fairly on time also.

I googled: https://www.belmond.com/trains/asia/eas ... l-express/

and plenty of info. I'd just add 3 hrs +/-, from southbound departure from BKK, if wanting to see it cruise by HH. Sit rail-side, sip a few. Does not operate everyday.

Damn expensive ride, but does include, 2 night snoozing (short trip), and some good munching and free flow alcohol.

Hi Gus,

I took pictures of the Eastern Oriental Express on September 15th 2018 as it passed through Hua Hin going southbound at 8:22am.

Cheers,
B.

Schedule changes ???

Showing 1750 departures out of BKK on website, as was thinking of making a drone vid as it cruises by, but obviously night time wouldn't work at location I chose.

Thanks all, I think the iteneray is to leave Hualamphong around 5-6pm then arrive at Kanchanaburi by 8-9ish the next morning for all the various tours. Then it leaves Kanchanaburi about 1pm to 2ish to Nakon Pathom where the loco changes ends and starts it's journey south.
That is why I guessed 5pm but blacky has proved that to be apoor guess. :)
Maybe atrip to the station to have aword with the booking office might help.

This was a trip I planned a couple of years ago. Then I saw the price!
