Big Boy wrote: Mon Dec 11, 2017 2:04 pm For the last week, I've been trying to order something for my son's business online. A common problem - even though the website is in English or Thai, any order in English is ignored. The order was worth 17,000 Baht (19,000 Baht according to their website :? ), so not to be sniffed at.

This morning, it was time for Plan B. Get my daughter to phone them in Thai, which she did. The response was one that we have also had from 4 other different companies that we deal with, and one that I find quite remarkable............"We don't deal with telephone or e-mails anymore. Please give us your Line ID."

Sure enough, 30 minutes later, the deal is done, and delivery will be within 7 days.

I really find it incredible that businesses do their transactions this way. The company is FBT, so not a 2 bit organisation.

As I said, this is now the 5th organisation that we deal with in this way. Further orders are made via Line. The one good thing is responses are immediate. I guess it works, so don't knock it. I just wish they'd update their web pages to reflect this, rather than have mugs like me trying conventional methods first, wasting many days - sometimes looking elsewhere. In this instance, the items are specialist, and we wouldn't know where else to look.
Now another problem.....................

We were told the items, which are quite bulky would be delivered Friday. They didn't arrive. My daughter contacted them to ask where they were. Oh, they were delivered at such and such a time. We have a signature.

We don't have them.

They were definitely delivered. We have a signature (went on to give name).

Never heard of him.

After a lot of tooing and froing between us, FBT and the delivery agent, it seems these particular items are usually delivered to schools, not private addresses. Even though we provided a map, the goods were delivered to the local school. The school has been partying for the last few days, with kids from all over staying. No idea where the items are, or what state they are in. The delivery agent is supposedly travelling to Hua Hin tomorrow to sort it out.

Not happy at the moment, and if the goods do eventually arrive, they will be thoroughly inspected before any signature is given.

I'm quite disgusted in that the company insisted on full contact details and a map - I've never been asked for all of this information before. What did they do with additional information request? Ignore it - they delivered to where they thought it would be best. Morons - TIT.

I have had quite a lot of items delivered that were ordered online from various sources. Kerry has been very good throughout and normally phones the wife before the delivery is made. The regular driver knows our place and the estate guard is a good guy who will take delivery if we are out. Also had stuff from DHL again with a phone call before delivery but as it is not always a local driver the wife has to give him directions (if the niece or nephew are not around to do this which makes it much more straightforward).

I have to agree with that. The wife got a parcel this past week, but it was meant to be two parcels. The guy returned to deliver the other at 2030 hours that night. If a DHL, Fedex screw up you would get the missed parcel sometime late the next day as it would enter a new delivery cycle. If it was Thai Post you would have to chase it down yourself at the post office, or wait days. No complaints about Kerry at all. Pete

Both Kasikorn and Bangkok Bank ATM cards can be used as debit cards, but they have to be activated by the Banks on request.
Well my account is with Krungsri...

When I opened my bank account there were no less than 4 different types of ATM or ATM & Debit cards to chose from, all with different fees and feature packages. I have no doubt that the variety changes on a regular bases too, so it's probably not as simple as saying "ATM cards from bank X, Y or Z can or cannot be used as debit cards".

Having said that, having checked my ATM card, it is indeed a Visa debit card. Although the one I was using via proxy (also Krungsri) before I got my own bank account, most definitely wasn't.

A happy ending

FBT did send their delivery agent back to Hua Hin today, and he collected the wrongly delivered items from the school and delivered them to us about an hour ago. The school hadn't broached the packaging, which had been my biggest fear, and the goods were in mint condition. :D

Online Shopping

Post by pharvey »

I did search to see if this had been mentioned before, but couldn't find anything - Mods please move if necessary.

Thought this site may be of interest to users of the Forum. I've used it numerous times and the multitude of suppliers (mainly from China) have been very reliable. I can't complain at the quality of the products, the price or the delivery. The service I have had is from China (so maybe more suitable for HH/Thailand), but I believe they also deliver from both the US and EU.

The site offers a wide range of products, but I've mainly used it for electronic/computer items.

Certainly looks like a good site. I often wonder whether suppliers sign up to more than one marketing network. i.e. Bang Good and Lazada. On a quick scan I did see a couple of items which were identical to ones offered on Lazada.
I was impressed that they gave a shipping/delivery period. Something that Lazada don't do until after you order.

No matter. I'll sign up for this one then what I can't get at one, I may get at the other.

I've used geekbuying.com and gearbest.com for TV boxes, tablets and phones over the last few years. I usually look to see which has what I want at the better price. Never had a problem with either. Just recently I wanted to buy a new Xiaomi phone. So checked both suppliers for the phone and had decided which one when I thought to look on Lazada. Surprisingly I was able to get it cheaper on Lazada and already in stock in Thailand. Delivered in 2 days. First time I've ever seen the same electronic item cheaper in Thailand than China.

Lazada and Power Mall

Post by caller »

Not sure where to post this or if acceptable?

Need to declare my other half works for the Mall Group who part own Bluport. Power mall is their electronics store.

Anyway, they have teamed up with Lazada and there are often sales and offers not always available in the physical store. Seems like they also have daily offers online, so just thought I would let folk know as another option to look at when considering buying something. I won't be posting here again.
