Hua Hin Area Photo Thread
Hua Hin Area Photo Thread
By Hua Hin Area, we are looking at reasonable distanced day trip areas ranging from the Prachuap area in the South to the Petchaburi area in the North.
The idea is to use this thread in conjunction with our Facebook Page. Nothing tells a story so well as a few photos. No matter how good a wordsmith you may be, nothing describes
As an example, if I think back a couple of days to Frank Hovis' excellent report on the Santorini Water Park, many people read that report because it was current. However, what will highlight it to people in the future? People often flick through photos as opposed to reams of text. No disrespect to Frank's report, but a few photos would be far more likely to bring that thread back to life than reams of text. Almost everybody has some form of camera with them these days in the form of a mobile phone. Just snap away, and post the best photos, with a brief description here.
Therefore, if your photos don't naturally fit anywhere else, post them here - let's build a library of photos of the area.

Thum Kao Tao Temple
I've been going to Khao Tao for years. Recently, I've noticed what looks like man made caves at the bottom of the hill that leads to Had Sai Noi beach. We went to explore yesterday, and what an Aladin's Cave of photo opportunities it proved to be.
Watch out for a full trip report and all photos on our Facebook page tomorrow.

Kaeng Krachen dam and reservoir / 22 Nov 2013
The dam and reservoir are about a 90-minute drive north-west of Cha-Am. Near the dam is a nice little visitor's center with very nice picnic areas, really scenic. We plugged the coordinates into the GPS and followed a zig-zag course up, through pineapple and sugarcanefields on tiny little backroads... lots of fun. Had to dodge goat herds and monkeys. Return trip, we cut over to Highway 4, then south to Cha-Am and back home HH.

Hua Hin Vineyard
I'm not a wine drinker (my body swiftly rejects it - it gets messy ), but I really enjoy a walk through scenic countryside.
This was only my 2nd visit to this area, which is beautifully manicured by man, but the appearance is fully determined by nature. Plants come and plants go according to their natural growing cycles. You could visit this place every month, and it would look different on each visit.
A pleasant afternoon walk, with plenty to see.

Big Boy, you better slow down or you'll see everything there is to see in this country (it doesn't take long) in the first couple of years you are here and then become bored like me!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Puk Tien Beach
What looks on the face of it to be a failed beach resort. The area is full of abandoned developments. However, the beach still attracts its share of visitors to look at the strange statues.

Chao Samran Beach
Situated a couple of miles North of Puk Tien, and a few miles East of Petchaburi, this very busy resort was predominantly being used by Thais.

Waghor Aquarium
Set on the Gulf of Siam, just a couple of miles South of Prachuab the aquarium is housed inside well-manicured grounds. I would assume, judging by the numerous ramps that it is considered wheelchair friendly.
