Forgive the temerity of a forum virgin in starting a new thread, but my main reason for registering was to join the last game, and by the time I got here it was all over. Story of my life...

I'm going to start with a rather conventional, possibly boring opening gambit:

Charing Cross

A virgin to this forum you may well be, but I have a suspicion that you might just be a Mornington Crescent pedant.

Charing Cross is an obvious starter, but it leaves the game wide open for my next move which is:

Baker Street (which, if my history is correct, was named after a song by Gerry Rafferty)

DM: You're accusing of Dawn stretching the rules? I think you've overstepped the mark with that move.

Luckily I rolled a six and that (obviously) gives me as many moves as I wish to make - according to the abridged 1973 King's Valley Rules. Being a stickler for the original rules I'll just pop up six stops to:

Very good, very canny move. As a newbie to the game, it has taken me nearly a whole day's research to come up with a response to that. I think, however, I've found one - interestingly enough from a game played in the tropics (not Thailand, sadly; Borneo) by British colonialists/expats in the 50's. So, here goes...

Positively fiendish - your day was not wasted. Ok it is obvious that to even attempt a Charing cross opening gambit shows your MC virginity.
I am sorely tempted to make the Pimlico route. But i haven't got my passport with me.

Tsk, I'm (was - I've obviously lost my cherry now) a FORUM virgin and used the Ch X gambit out of consideration for the obvious inexperience of those involved in the last game.

You should have stuck with Dollis Hill, numb, because now I'm taking you to that urban den of iniquity...

Surely Finchley Central would have had a bit more class? Or are you hiding something? You are either extremely intelligent or mildly stupid - do tell all...

Anyway, are we playing the extended gambit, or the compressed one? I am assuming that it is the extended one, but even then we have to understand whether we are playing by the '49 or '64 rules. On the basis of the '64 set, by which, you may remember, you get extra points for being relevant to the day of the week, and since today is Sunday...
