"The Witch Queen of New Orleans"

That's the only Redbone song I can remember. I haven't heard it since then I believe, and can't say I've missed it. I think they were American, though, but that song was bigger in Europe.

And then of course there was Leon Redbone, a half bizarre solo artist. But it's not him you're after, I believe?

Well done Gutte you beat me to it: I've just consulted the oracle (Guinness Book of British Hit Singles) and it confirms that Redbone had a hit in September '71 with the Witch Queen of New Orleans. Great song - it's one of those songs that just sticks in your mind. They were an American band and it looks like it was the only single that they had a hit with.

Maybe you can download it (legally of course) off the Internet.

Here it is:

I loved this when it came out, made a difference to T-Rex and Slade and then everything changed when I bought Pictures at an Exhibition by ELP....

But leave that, we had that on another thread.

I've got some of Nick Drake's tracks on the computer. I'm still hopeful that I might be able to get the whole of "Bryter Later" and "Five Leaves Left" from someone. If so, it would make my day.
Hi lomuamart, I'm a newbie here, just signed up as I'll be moving from Central Thailand to Hua Hin soon.
If you need a complete copy of "Bryter Later" or "Five Leaves Left" it's no problem, I have them both on CD and my computer. Also a rare acoustic recording of Nick Drake singing "Don't Think Twice.."
If you still need the copies we can organise something when I'm in the area which should be approx mid-August.

That's good of you, jjbones. Thanks.
I'd certainly be interested. Get in touch when you arrive. Good luck with your move.

Thanks, and VS also. I shall now research further to see if I can find the track on-line. Pete
