Think united were undone by injuries at the back myself. However saying that I do think Milan will come up trumps on the night of the final. Will there be plenty of places allowed to open in HH at 2.00 in the morning?

Nice to see the scousers forgetting their heritage. How they laughed when the mancs got the funny guy with a beard. How they cheered when they got their own input of cash.

Oh, and Stevie Gerrard, who is scouse through to his little cotton socks, the same man who pulled out of a deal with class only because the scousers offered him a bigger pay rise, has now declared once and for all that he's red through and through, and he'll sign for life, at 120k per week, making him ther highest paid footballer in the UK, if not the world. Don'tya just love his loyalty?

Thats a bit rich coming from a Chelsea fan! Sounds too much like sour grapes and I would politely suggest that as you and chelsea and Guess were larging up how well your team were doing and how they were going to win everything earlier in the season, that you learn some humility and acknowledge that you were beaten by a better team on the night, and don't follow the lead of Mourinho, who is quickly losing the plot (and probably his job at the end of the season). Up until a few months ago, most people had a grudging respect for Chelsea and admired Mourinho for what they had achieved, but now they are universally hated because of his increasingly annoying comments before and after games, which instead of being 'clever' mind games have just given teams extra incentive to try and beat them.
Back to topic, and I think Milan will probably come out on top in the Final, but it will be close.

The reality is that Liverpool have 2 rich american owners, the Glaziers own the Mancs, lets wait and see what happens at Arsenal with another wealthy American waiting in the wings - the Russian owns Chelsea, and so on.

All I take umbage about is that Chelsea take the flak for being the rich boy's toy, "Chelski" which in reality is a new development.

New money, rather than old. Its long been the case for many others, including Liverpool, the Mancs and so on.

Chelsea were already a challenger before the russian took over and upped the ante. The others have responded in a similar way. The status quo is being restored.

We didn't pay 20m for Carrick, 30m for Ferdinand, 120pw for Gerrard, so maybe this will stop the talk about Chelsea. We're the new kids on the block and its upset the establishment - in may ways - on and off the pitch.

Yes, Jose, can be a prat but you only have to read the Observers "said & done" to realise the crap spouted by the others.

They are all the same.

In one sense I agree with you, that the money is now coming from different and more plentiful sources (although maybe not in Manure's case!) but Chelsea weren't the first, Blackburn were, and they were widely despised for having 'bought' the title at the time. Fulham also dabbled without much success, except for promotion to the PL) and Leeds have shown what the consequences can be.

All of the 3 'big' teams challenging Chelsea have long histories of success, and with the exception of Arsenal, that has been built on a huge fan base and good homegrown youth policies. Neither Chelsea or Arsenal have these traditions, which is one of the reasons Chelsea would be in trouble if Abramovich decided he'd had enough, whereas Arsenal have always struggled to a certain extent financially when competing for the best players in the transfer market, and have had to rely on Wenger's skill at finding and nurturing some of the best young foreign talents - if Wenger goes then Arsenal will also find it difficult.

The point with all of the money men behind the various clubs is that the money available from Abramovich completely dwarfs anyone else, which is very nice for Chelsea but brings with it the same criticism that Blackburn faced. The other 3 don't get that criticism because they had already achieved success without outside money; however to stay where they were they have had to restructure financially because of Abramovich.

This has had a ripple effect through most clubs in the PL and outside and it will now take a miraculous season for anyone outside of those top 4 to win the title or even qualify for the Champions League, which I believe is bad for football, particularly when it means that, increasingly, homegrown players don't get a look in. The top four each only have about 3 or 4 English players in their normal first XI (MU - Ferdinand, Neville, Scholes, Rooney; Chelsea - Terry, Cole, Lampard, Cole; Liverpool - Carragher, Gerrard, Crouch; Arsenal - none), and it's not much better in the rest of the teams.

Football is still a great game but sadly not the same as it was, and mainly for 2 reasons - the EU rules and Mr Bosman. Without those we would still have a majority of English players playing for English teams (and Spanish for Spanish etc) and players and clubs would have more loyalty to each other. It would also mean that my club would not have got into such a mess! I wonder if they can sue the EU....?

Wonderlust, you forget two things, English football has always been full of "foreigners", the Scots, Irish and Welsh have long been, and still are, a very big part of the game. As for Arsenal, should Wenger leave, there´s Pat Rice, an Arsenal man since the 60´s. Also there´s a plenty of young English talent coming up in Arsenal, lead by an ex-Arsenal star Liam Brady (from Ireland).

A challenger for what? They were an OK team before the cash arrived, but I don't remember them challenging for the real trophies. I can't remember much more than the odd cup success, a good run in the European Losers Cup, and top half of the Premiership.
