Sorry, westmoor, I moved the topic. Just been reading about this, funnily enough. It is now thought that the man with the gun was a farang, due to his height & long strides whilst making his getaway.
This is leading to thoughts that it may be a professional hit for one of a number of reasons, which are all just supposition at the moment, as far as I know.

Two Russian women killed in Pattaya
Two Russian women killed in Pattaya
(BangkokPost.com, dpa) Latest news
Two Russian female tourists were shot and killed in a popular tourist
beach resort about 100 kilometres south-east of Bangkok early
Saturday, police said.
The 30- and 25-year-old women were shot by an unidentified gunman on a
beach in Jomtien which is just south of the popular tourist resort
town Pattaya at around 5 a.m.
Witnesses said they heard gun shots, then saw a Thai man flee the area
on a motorcycle. The two women, who were staying in a nearby resort,
were found dead next to beach chairs on the beach, police said.
Police found an empty coca-cola can, an almost empty alcoholic
beverage, female shoes and a mobile phone at the scene.
Police initially suspected that the women, who checked in at the
Dragon Beach Resort Hotel last Friday and planned to check out early
March, were involved in sex trade and were killed because of some
conflict of interest in the business.
Pattaya and Jomtien to its south are popular beach towns that have
seen an increased number of Russian tourists in recent years.

The charm of asia is more than the girlies !
I have found this story beguiling. That I accept, is probably inappropriate.
The rants on TV are to be seen to be believed. The story in todays UK Times somewhat more balanced. Yet another story about a slaughter in LOS - how long can this Country survive this?
The photos shocking, two young ladies, whatever their story they can no longer tell, are too awful and then to make it worse, the clownish and amateurish police are seen to wade in and destroy all the forensics. Jaime said it before, but to watch these clowns at work in this day and age beggers belief, a true 3rd world state at work.
What is this Country on? What does it get off on?
Pete, whats your view on this part of town? You've talked before about Pattaya and its environs? Is this a new angle to be wary of?
Kiwip - what makes you think that HH is exempt from this - how do you know it hasn't already happened"? Unless its picked up by the foriegn press, you've no chance of knowing. OK, that may be alarmist and the reality for most is that if you're not involved, it can pass you by.
But there ain't a lot of good news coming out of LOS at the moment, thats for sure.

Rumour or not, it was reported on Thai TV to be factual that it was now thought to be a farang because of those two things. That is why I included it in what I said. You will note, I did not include the "prostitutes who decided not to work" thing, because, as far as I knew that was supposition at this time & had not been reported as a fact. What I stated had been.HHTel wrote:My wife after listening to the news yesterday and reading the above thread pointed out that these two girls (according to the police) were killed from a typical motorcycle hit. Although that doesn't rule out a farang, the long strides etc is rumour.
When did the motorcycle come into it? The early reports were a Thai man was seen running away & that was later changed to a farang because of his height etc. As far as I know, motorcycles haven't been mentioned. As the girls were found on beach chairs on the beach, a motorcycle hit sounds unlikely.

Caller,
I agree with what you say about the police, they are not trained at all to handle anything more than a wrong bill in a bar, lthis is sometimes too much!
However, horrible murders like this happen all over the world on a regular basis. England sees this more than Thailand for sure so i find your rant a little unbalanced. You know what Pattaya is like, so "turf wars" which is essentially what this seems to be are pretty much common place.

I've since read that CCTV cameras got a man running to a motorbike which he rode off on, so looks like what your wife said & what I had read were 2 sides to the same coin...HHTel wrote:Sorry Dawn,
I was very much passing on what I understood my wife to be telling me. It's now been reported in the Bangkok Post which is in a language I can read and understand.

I haven't seen any "exact" location quoted except "Jomtien Beach". As you know, up the hill and around the corner and not Pattaya at ll. A very different atmosphere and mostly higher class farangs and more of a Thai weekend place than Pattaya Beach is. Petecaller wrote: Pete, whats your view on this part of town? PS: As a side note, these lasses (if pros) from the ex soviet empire don't come here trying to attract young British, European or American tourists. Their main clients are rich Thai's and second choice, other men of Asian extraction. These guys are nuts about tall, long legged, blond girls. This whole story could well disappear if the trail leads towards someone or group of power people.
