New Gym

Post by DawnHRD »

A friend of mine is moving down to Hua Hin from Bangkok & is thinking of starting a gym. The idea is that it would be better equipped than any of the present gyms in HH and more welcoming, with other amenities like juice bar etc - rather like a good gym in BKK.
Basically, she needs to know whether there would be any demand in Hua Hin for a really good gym, both from locals & tourists, so any comments would be welcomed. Thanks

Spoke to a few people in the Hilton gym and they all said a good gym would be good business in HH.

Shouldn't you vote Dawn?

OK, but she knows my view already! Humping dogs & sacks of food around is more than enough exercise for me!! :D Thanks for the reply, JG

I voted no, never use them, but I still feel that a decent one offering not just machines but free weights and professional fitness programs would work.

Look at the competition ...

The Hilton: A place most people use because its "the in thing to do", more about socializing and being "showy" than getting fit.

Grand Sport: This is just a massive kindergarten for parents to dump their kids under the premise that they're learning jujitsu or something, a bit of a free for all and not really professionally run.

Palm Hills: Too far away and members only which excludes people on holiday.

I would use anywhere that had a decent exercise swimming pool, one for lane swimming with no kids jumping on you.

Thanks for your comments, I'll pass them on. Anyone else?

it will work.

I will Use it. Now I have to go to Cha AM because there is no Gym in Hua Hin!!!

I spoke to many people and no one is happy with the Hilton or Grand Sport Gym.

Hilton ain't that bad. Cardio machines look new and the weight machines are ok. There's a sauna also and you can use there pool facilities if you want. Membership is a bit steep I suppose but as it's the only fitness centre in town what can a poor boy do?

I play alot of badminton back in the UK and like to keep my fitness levels up, if I don't do some form of workout at least once a week i start to feel very lazy, something about endorphines!

So bottom line 'I need a gym'

Spoke to a few mates about this and they said that they use the hilton at present for the sauna, pool and showers. But that only having 2 showers was a joke, I agree with this and often have to queue for the showers in the hilton. Kids also annoy me in gyms and pools.
