Thai internet speed problems

Post by Dannie Boy »

I don’t know whether anyone else is suffering but my internet is desperately slow today and things like listening to the UK radio is frequently buffering - I’m assuming it could be linked to this story about undersea cables being sabotaged in the Red Sea area. https://www.medianama.com/2024/02/223-f ... ea-report/

Downloaded a bunch of films from YTS this morning under ExpressVPN with speeds reaching 40+mbps and most averaging around 20.
Not found any problem with online news sites and TV packages. I'm using 3BB.

No currently getting 340mbps with True.

A good tip is to switch off the router and restart with new IP address

3BB is its usual patchy on and off self, but nothing out of the ordinary in terms of speeds.

Ok must be localized to our area only.
They said it was a broken cable needing to be fixed.

Hopefully not that one in the Red Sea - otherwise it could be 8 weeks Image

There was/is a cable break somewhere west of Singapore. Cable name is SEA-ME-WE 5. This will only affect international traffic though.

Maybe that’s it then because i normally have my VPN on set to the UK for things like the BBC website and UK Heart radio which is cutting in and out every 30 seconds or so.

Although I’m not, I’m pleased to report that things appear to be back to normal Image
