- Pueanjai Resort and Restaurant about 500 baht a night, set breakfast included, has a lovely pool
or if you prefer to be by the sea
- Nana Beach Resort about 1200 baht a night, buffet breakfast included, has a pool and situated on beach front

I did an overnighter both ways to and from Nakhon Si Thammarat a couple of weeks ago. We stayed at the Nana Buri Hotel. Nothing flash, but functional. Not expensive. Excellent restaurant across the road - looked quite plain from outside. The Green Restaurant, or The Green something. We thought it was really good, and not expensive.

Never had any problem about noise and drunks, and breakfast is fine all depends what you're looking for

I agree with Joelle. Nana Beach mid week early December was no issue. Beds are the Thai “Plank” type mattresses.
Southbound stayed at the Je Boutique hotel farther south. Near the road so some noise but nice place and attached cafe was good.
