Wimbledon 2023

Post by Lost »

Anyone been watching the first round? Djokovic through in straight sets, no surprise. Venus Williams made a brave effort but obviously not agile around the court through injury/old age ( :D) . Now cheering on Coco Gauff who made that remarkable first appearance at Wimbledon at the age of 15 (now 19).

Sounds like it was a good match, but Coco out and Britain's Swan's gone.... :(

Britain's Katie Boulter into the third round DM. At 27 she's no Raducanu but I eagerly anticipate your support in round 3.

Murray 2-1 up against world number 5 Tsitsipas. Great game, to be continued tomorrow. Bigger story today is Britain's Broady beating #4 seed Ruud over five sets.

Unlike some cavemen commenting, I've always enjoyed the ladies' tennis. :)

It is still (maybe only just about though) a far nicer game, strength and brute force not being the deciding factor of most of the points. As I say, this is now a bit less true, baseline tennis is now very much the norm due to the speed at which the ball can be hit.

And of course the ladies can sometimes look lovely. Since the 1970s I've always held a candle for little Sue Barker, but could hardly bear to watch the big unit that was Betty Stove, with her ever-present grubby-looking knee bandage.

One thing though. Close up photos of the ladies taken by the press so often seem chosen for the presence of her, um, 'dromedary digit'. Action shots with the skirt rising at the front just enough to display the centre seam of her underwear dividing the soft flesh underneath (calm down). The pic of Katie Boulter just posted by Lost is a reasonable example although not one of the most prominent (yes, I know....).

Even the BBC linger long on just the legs of ladies waiting to receive serve, but not on the men's. It's not a complaint of course, but I do watch for the tennis!

Come on Andy!

Bloody annoying Broady, Norrie and Murray are all playing at the same time today. Gonna be flicking between channels. Murray up very soon, the other two already playing.

Ah fudge. Andy needed to win that tie break. It's over.

Norrie out, too. Our last hope is Broady.
