Re: Ashes Test series
Well, England need to win the last 3 test matches to win the Ashes. I've just had a look at the Headingley weather forecast, and after day 2, it's chuffin' awful!!

Re: Ashes Test series
Yup!!
"Mitch Marsh has hit 78 of his runs in boundary.
All three of his Test centuries are against England.
I make it the second fastest Australia century against England in England. Only Victor Trumper has done it quicker, in 95 balls."
Might just be looking for that cr@ppy weather yet!!

Re: Ashes Test series
During the washed out day today, I was thinking (yes I know, rare occurrence).
When Smith was leaving his crease for the walk to the dressing room and Bairstow said mildly but obviously provocatively (you heard it clearly on Sky Sports) 'see ya later Smudge' and Smith almost literally blew up at him, I was thinking 'thin skin for a team that likes to give it or what?'

I loved it! Smith may be a great batsman, but he's a whingy little crybaby who thinks he can do no wrong.404cameljockey wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 9:02 pm During the washed out day today, I was thinking (yes I know, rare occurrence).

The players have to be quite careful these days, since the introduction of stump mikes. I'm pretty sure they've toned down their language quite a bit.
Pre stump mikes: "F*ck my old boots, Woody that was amazing!"
Post stump mikes: "Oh goodness me, what great bowling!"

Re: Ashes Test series
Probably right. Sledging maybe has lost it's wit anyway. Google 'greatest cricket sledges' for some good entertainment, all the way back to Fred Trueman.dtaai-maai wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2023 9:06 pm The players have to be quite careful these days, since the introduction of stump mikes. The Times this morning says 'The Ashes: Victory in England’s hands – if they follow calculating Stokes’s lead'

Re: Ashes Test series
Obviously I’m hoping for an England win, but they have a habit of collapsing just when they look like getting on top. Having looked at the weather forecast, there’s a good chance it could end in a draw!!

Might forgive Bairstow his occasional blunder if his bat was working as it's supposed to!sateeb wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 1:45 pmNot if Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root are catching404cameljockey wrote: ↑Sun Jul 09, 2023 12:23 pm The Times this morning says 'The Ashes: Victory in England’s hands – if they follow calculating Stokes’s lead'
