Residency letter from Immigration

Post by fellwalker »

Some while since I have done this.
I have searched the forum and there are many inputs but somewhat dated.
Do we have a relatively up to date set of immigrations requirements?

I did this a couple of month back for renewing my license and buying and selling a car - so three cerificates in all - 1500 baht.

For me, it was passport, blue book, 3x passport sized photo, health cert (for car license) and completed application form, which you can do there and then. The office you need to go to is next to the lady who does the photocopying, you can bypass everyone else. They close for lunch. Once copied, hand over the completed docs, pay the fee and and sit and wait outside until the docs are ready. About 30 minutes

Hello caller. With the certificate of address to sell the car, did they require the name of the buyer?
Is it specific just to sell a car, or use for any one of what you needed?

They don't require the name of the buyer for the letter, just are you selling or buying and is it a car or motorbike.

As Pagey states, address for buyer not required. But there is a specific form for buying and another for selling. You have a check list to sign off on the otherwise generic application form, to state what the residence cert is required for.

Took my Mom in to get a residence letter a few years ago, so she could get a drivers license. The young intern at immigration, asked her if she wanted a license for car or motorcycle. She replied “both”. Later, at the Pranburi drivers license office, there was a major problem and they informed us they could not issue the license. Turns out the residence letter was written to authorize a “Boat” license, which the Pranburi Department of Land Transport does not issue. We had to return to Hua Hin Immigration for a corrected letter, then back to Pranburi to obtain the drivers license. Be careful what you ask for as each residence letter is written to authorize a specific thing ;)

I can see this leading to a problem for me, or some tea money!
I have recently sold the house and the new owner has taken the blue book with her to Australia. I have copies of it, so maybe that will do.
I do not want to go through the changing address hassle, as that is also about to change.

One other thing: does anybody know how long the certificate is valid?

Glad it went well for you. Can I ask what you were seeking the certificate for?
