Always been interested in astronomy and astrophysics but never took it seriously aside from some studies many moons ago. Don't have a scope either but there are some very good phone apps for identifying whats up there.

I'd imagine you'd have to travel a fair way out of Hua Hin to get away from the light pollution.

I am interested in astronomy, mainly from a navigation point of view using a sextant.
I sometimes howl at the moon, but the neighbors started throwing stuff at me, so I had to stop!

Now living in Bangkok about the only heavenly body visible fom here is the moon!
Why do you ask?

I had an ok telescope back home but gifted it on before coming here
where i live , some 20 km south of HH there is little light pollution apart from the irrigation office a few km away thats so lit up it needs it own substation..

What im seeing pretty much every cloudless night much to my delight is
the moon, obviously
Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury and i think Neptune
Being rather fascinated will all thats "out there " im going to buy another scope, so just wondered if there were others who might own one or know someone with a semi decent scope

As for your howling at the moon Nereus, i hope it was in a different key to the 4 legged freekers that also take delight in it

I have an app called SkyEye in my Android phone, great for locating any celestial object you may wish you find. Seldom use it, though, as each time there is a meteor shower the sky is overcast..

Nowhere near HH unfortunately, and an Amateur at best! Always had an interest in Astronomy and have recently purchased a "Starter Scope" (and "Stargazing for Dummies" )!

Would be good to get some advice though!! Especially with regards to lenses etc.

If there was a Hua Hin club I would probably join, as in five years in Hua HIn I haven't joined anything yet

Apps I have installed include Stellarium, SkyView, and Google Sky Map.

The PC version of Stellarium is much better though: https://stellarium.org/

As for that Cloudy Nights, the registration acceptance sure is taking a few light years to arrive.
