CP Foods decries ‘misinformation’ on blackchin tilapia
Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CP Foods) says it has identified “misleading” images and messages about blackchin tilapia circulating in public forums, causing misunderstandings and damaging the company’s reputation.
“These false claims have been widely shared, resulting in significant damage to the company,” Kobboon Srichai, head of corporate affairs at CP Foods, said in a statement released on Tuesday.
She was responding to material posted online by the BioThai Foundation and claims it made at a recent seminar about how the invasive fish had come to spread to many provinces in Thailand.

Re: Thailand News Summary
Good summary of the current political situation in Thailand (yes, its still technically a dictatorship).
Thailand's establishment silences voices of change
Nearly 15 months since Thailand's general election on May 14, 2023, a political reset is taking place to preserve and perpetuate the disguised autocratic power and prerogatives of the royalist-conservative establishment.
At issue is whether the traditional power holders behind the reset will allow policy directions under the coalition government of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to make headway. If they merely want to hold on to power without concern for progress, Thailand will continue to hover in a political standstill with patchy policy being made in fits and starts.
...
The conjunction of Move Forward's dissolution ruling on Aug. 7 and Srettha's a week later, with Thaksin free to roam politically after the Aug. 22 expiry of his cushy one-year jail sentence, mean Thailand's democratic process has been shrewdly subverted.
Move Forward's dissolution appears a foregone conclusion, even though the party was the biggest poll winner. Formerly appointed by the military, the new Senate is under the control of royalist forces represented by Bhumjaithai. While Thaksin is kept on a lese-majeste leash, Srettha's continuation in office seems likely in view of his royal recognition, although Anutin would be a ready and willing replacement.
If subverting and resetting the post-election landscape this way allows establishment forces to feel sufficiently secure, Thailand may be able to move forward incrementally and avoid further economic stagnation and political decay as its democracy is kept weak, fractious, and unstable.
