I used to use Western Union when it was one of the only options and found them reliable but expensive.
I see they now offer cheaper online services, this article is pretty comprehensive:

I'll probably give them a try if it's easy to set up, it's always handy to have alternatives.

The other one that always features high on the Wise listing is Revolut. I've looked into getting the app, but I don't see an awful lot of advantage for me personally. Friends who visit regularly speak very highly of the app. Might be worth looking at if you want to save a couple of Baht each month. I think there are small savings to be made, but I'm happy enough with Wise - if it isn't broken, why fix it?

Instead of 80000 baht WU would've given 80100 so truly minimal difference
Then again wise just took 15 hours to transfer my money so I wonder if WU are much quicker too?
Only one way to find out!

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
I noticed Wise is often taking longer compared to say 2 years ago when it was almost always a matter of 30 seconds to arrive, if transferred within Thai banking business hours.
A transfer initiated around 9am now often takes 2 hours and soometimes up to 6 hours to hit. This also seems dependent or at least possibly effected on which Thai bank its being transferred to (and I assume the amount also with under 30k almost always being instant), Kbank and Krungrsi are always fast, SCB and BKK bank often have this unexplained delay.
Impossible to know really I suppose, as Wise just keep a currency float as I understand it, so may be something to do with finding liquidity for larger transfers.

It is obviously working for different people at different times. I am still getting blink of an eye response from Wise.

I've just installed the Western Union app and failed the first hurdle, they only seem to allow transfers from 6 countries and mine isn't one of them.

a. The 'late' time I requested it
And
B. The amount was 20000 baht higher than before??
Transfers of 60000 used to happen in the blink of an eye as BB says

^Yes, it was the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and a couple of other European countries that I don't remember.
Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
Had a large transfer this week to Kasikorn and it took seconds

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
Isn't there two possible methods with Wise, and one may be much faster than the other when dealing with high amounts?
1) You initiate a transaction where your funds are transferred to Wise from your bank, then transferred to where you want to send them by Wise.
2) You have funds already sitting in your Wise account.
I think #2 is going to get you immediate transfers up to the amount that you have in your Wise account, whereas #1 is not?
