So what is your problem? If you're allowed your daily alcohol ration, why would the Jazz negate you from partaking of your fix?

Did anybody watch the festival? I tuned in for about 20 seconds, but Jazz isn't my thing.

Didn't bother, or even know where to tune in. The 'event' was more of a draw for me. Jazz fan, sort of, and enjoyed many of the acts, as attended the first 8 ish festivals, till Heineken stopped sponsoring. Always couple that were excellent and worth watching and listening to their full set.

The acts I didn't pay attention to while in attendance, did provide a decent background sound. Sometimes good, sometimes 1 notch about elevator music ... or not. Great time then, to stroll around and sample the food & sip a few.

If I want to watch & listen to music on a monitor, I'll pick & choose on youtube. Avoid the PR BS.😎

Likewise, I really enjoyed the early festivals 10-12 years ago which actually had a festival atmosphere. Then the 'ban brigade' dropped the hammer on everything and they became a washout. Now you have to go to Farcebook to watch it? Gimme a break. :banghead:

The very first festivals, nearly two decades ago were excellent. At least four different stages so you could walk around and pick the ones that you liked. Easy to find a beer and sit down and just enjoy.

I went to the website and couldn't find how to listen to it.

I probably didn't miss much. A Jazz festival with Thais only makes as much sense as a Thai music festival with Westerners only.

I've heard some good Jazz players in Thailand: a tenor sax, piano and bassist in Bangkok and a trumpet player in Hua HIn but they weren't on the festival. Probably play too much Jazz for the promoters. From what I could tell, the program was mostly smooth jazz, whatever that means, and pop jazz. Both if which have little to do with Jazz.
