Is anyone seriously affected by these restrictions?
I'm not, so I wondered if others were.
I don't consider not being able to drink wine, with supper, in a restaurant as serious.
Is anyone's life adversely affected or are we all just a bunch of wingers?

Personally, no. However, I know several Farangs whose earnings have been significantly affected.

I love spending time with my family, but not 24/7. Spending quality time with your grandkids is great, but in the past you were able to send them back to their parents.

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder" doesn't apply any more!!

These restrictions do not affect me in the slightest as I did the work time back home to earn a pension that allows me to live here without having to supplement any income. I do know of quite a few that have had to leave, some of whom I can sympathize with and other were just "chancers" with no plan B.

However, if they are the real reason why our numbers are getting better then I understand the reasons for them

But for example, the bars reopened on 1 July last year and for 6 straight months we didn't have a problem.

If the bars are the problem why didn't the case numbers spike much earlier than late December?

I'm not convinced bars are the *root cause* of fresh breakouts, but once the virus is doing the rounds then I can see how certain bar type behaviour can exacerbate the issue.

It's far more important to keep people apart form each other than to deny them a couple of alcoholic drinks in a restaurant

Ps I'm aware of the Maya pub breakout but that's possibly due to a. a different strain and b. and a 'rock concert' style of close knit crowd standing

Interesting question handdrummer. You said seriously affected, so personally, I'd answer No. Despite my employer being shut and the places, I like to go being shut. I do though think about the strain on ordinary hardworking Thai families.

Yes, they do suffer more than the retired white devils.

my eldest daughter is a musician and has had a lot of work & students cancelled. Her husband teaches, music, yoga and a Japanese martial art and he has had a lot of students cancel. My youngest daughter keeps getting shuffled back and forth from office to working at home, at least she still has her job and a paycheck. They are all in Bangkok and are very limited as to where they can go and what they can do.

The future is also very uncertain. The eldest is due to play a concert with The Bangkok Symphony in July and enter a PHD program in the fall, but who knows. Everything is up in the air and nothing can really be planned or counted on.

I wouldn't like to be at the beginning of a career at this time. It would be very stressful and create a lot of self doubt.

Travel. Its the only thing I really like to do.

Now very difficult to move around the kingdom, and its been the first year as far as back as I can remember without an overseas trip, and getting back to the 'motherland' is virtually impossible. One hotel in a neighbouring province even said we couldn't leave the room if we were coming from Prachuap province.

The alcohol bans are an annoyance but there are and have always been ways around that if you know where to go.

Serious effects-none.

Now wear mask when not needed, as if ever was, with exception to enter 7-11 or Makro. Usually out and about once a month, every month, but homebound & bored, hence joining the forum. Though hanging out locally more so because of new house build, than any restrictions, if any actually being enforced.

Rarely drink alcohol, and locally, only restaurants catering to int'l tourist affected, and all else rather normal.

Pick up some good bits of info & hope to be helpful when possible. Not much to add though, since not in Hua Hin, but do live in PKK. Prefer to be out & about, and off the internet after coffee & catching up on news, and FB, that conx to past life & no news is good at this age (66). Usually not much of a forum person of late.

How is Pkk at the moment? It's a place I like to visit but haven't thought of doing so recently for obvious reasons. Apart from one hotel, I wasn't really aware there were any restaurants for international tourists. I usually eat at the back of Ao Manao beach.

Yea, guess I should of added, local weekenders to 'international' tourists. Restaurants surfside, very slow, if open, as domestic tourism came to a screeching halt now. Then one street over all normal, which is normally slow anyway. 50-100% price difference for the view doesn't motivate the locals to visit. Although one favorite, Daisy Rest, apparently lacking customers, even during normal times, has taken a break, being just a tad more expensive than others, but comfy & AC'd, so justified pricing. Hope they reopen when all is over.

Until the last 'wave', surfside was actually bustling with weekenders, and not just the walking street. Even during the week the vendors across from school were quite busy and offering more than kid favorites of deep fried & sugar. Many families & couples hanging out till after sunset.

Many like ourselves, just 'picnic' along the seawall. I don't do the mat on ground or sit on seawall, and bring my own 'set up' if sipping a few, as no restaurant offers my preferred brand anyway, so win win for me. Much better view also, unless dining at 'The View' (Hadthong hotel) which puts you above the car parking. Actually was a favorite, but has continually gone down hill, as prices went uphill, and can't remember the last time we even bothered with any of the restaurants surfside.

Except the one at Ao Manao, which strangely, we just discovered. I've even stayed at the hotel on base there, 15 ish yrs ago, before they revamped it.
