Is there a problem with Hua Hin Water?

Post by Big Boy »

I'm assuming we're immune because we have a water storage tank, and the crap is sinking to the bottom. However, I'm seeing in many places on Social Media that many people in Hua Hin have very dirty water, to the extent they can't bathe or clean teeth. Laundry is nigh on impossible. Does anybody know what is going on?

This is typical Facebook. All day I've been having photos of Hua Hin residents complaining of dirty water thrown at me. I thought I'd post some examples (and there were a lot), but now they are no longer there. The only one I could find was an example of washing whites in Hua Hin water today.

Difficult to imagine how dirty water would have made those marks?

When I leave dishes in the drainer, on the sink, the water in the drainer holder is always dirty. I can't see any dirt when the tap is turned on. I would never drink the water in Thailand.

This post got my attention.
For 3-4 years I've been wondering why I get green mold after washing clothes.
Today, for the first time, I thought the water doesn't look clean?
So i'm interested to hear what others report?

Like most people, when running water from the tap and in a shower it looks pretty clean. I have an above ground pool that holds around 10,000 ltrs and is a metre deep. When I change the water, it looks quite clean up to a third full. However as the water rises to the top, the water can be seen as quite green. Luckily my pool filter sorts that in 24 hours. The green shows up in a large body of water and it does hit home "My God! I shower and brush my teeth with that!"
Like BB, I have a large underground tank so I can't imagine how it would look without that.

A couple of the social media photos that went missing yesterday have re-appeared.

Each year we hear that water supply is stressed in the area. No surprise that dirty water begins to appear if the supply sources are getting down to the bottom.

I am surprised though in that the hotels and many condos/houses have been empty for a year now which says to me the overall water supply should be better than in normal times.

Wow, that is bad. I'm assuming that it's general across the board and not just one household.

There have been a lot of people complaining on social media, together with a few photos of the mayor at some remedial works site.

What I was hoping to find out was where the problem actually was, or was it, in fact, actually across the board? I'm assuming by the slow response, the area affected is limited.

For my "sins", I help look after the water supply within our development that is a combination of well and Pranburi mains supply water. I am not sure if this will directly relate to the locations that appear to be affected by the reported poor water quality. But during the last two weeks of Feb and over the last week in the Thap Tai location we have been recording lower than normal Pranburi water supply pressure. When we enquired about this with the utility company they told us that they were attending to a number of mains water supply leaks (no locations given). Based upon this, it could be the sand and dirt that is being reported could be that being introduced at the supply line repair locations. So this could just be a short term problem until all repairs are completed. I noted yesterday that the Pranburi water supply pressure was almost back to normal, so the repairs might have been completed and normal service will be restored.

Is there a conspiracy among the suppliers of bottled water to stop Thailand from supplying clean drinking water?

I have a dish drainer on the sink and if I don't clean it every 2 days with bleach it turns black with filth.

Clothes in the washing machine don't come out clean.

This is the 21st. Century, and if there's no lobby preventing clean water, then Thailand is among the worst nations in the world in caring for its citizens. But, by all means, buy submarines and jet fighters.

Must be the source. I live between 114 and 116 and my water is fine (by Thai standards). Maybe not potable but ok for cooking where boiling is required. i.e. eggs, pasta etc.

I live in Smorprong and we are proof that shit flows uphill. I'll use tap water for eggs but not pasta or anything where the food comes in contact with the water. I have a countertop water filter for that and drinking.
