You both speak the truth, these are petty unimportant topics for the most part, aired by privileged Westerners, and no solution will occur because a bunch of us farang talk about it it in own little world.
But I look at the forums like small talk, chit-chat on topics that are our shared experience. Sometimes the information is invaluable, often funny, occasionally sad, but mostly unimportant in the real scheme of things.
Plus you are both regular contributors to said topics Image

I love BluPort - I hope it doesn't close

Particularly Gourmet Market
Me too. Gourmet Market is The Mall Groups supermarket chain. They have recently announced a major financial investment to upgrade all of their outlets, starting at Siam Paragon, which started a while ago. But somehow, I doubt they will be investing in their store at Bluport.

I walked past Blueport late last night and if nothing else they keep the moral and cultural concept intact  with the changes at the entrance. First row 5-6 large gold-colored Buddha statues, then this skate thing and 2-3 bars in the last row. Have a safe Songkran.

fft100 wrote: Tue Apr 06, 2021 11:59 am The mall group own bluport. Doesn't that mean that if they pull out of bluport it closes down unless they can find a buyer for it ?

Complicated by the top 2 floors (including cinema ?) being converted into rooms for the intercontinental - or is that postponed ?

A real mess.
The Mall Group do not own Bluport. They are or were a partner in the business. The building was built and is owned by the same group that own the Intercontinental, Holiday Inn and Water Park.

Why would anyone convert a shopping area to new rooms of an already empty Hotel?

From the changes that are being made, it seems the intention is to continue using the building as a Mall. I hope Gourmet Market stays. I don't really care about the rest, although if Mall Group stuff does go, then that's less choice in town for electrical and other equipment.
Maybe hearsay, but I heard huge fitness/health center and if I not to far off the owner is also the owner of True Arena where I have heard the future plans are to turning it into a sports events only centre . However as said can be hearsay and just that.

Just left overs from the morning's blessing ceremony attended by the big knobs. I doubt they'll be a permanent feature.

Hi there Y‘all!

As the Mall group is pulling its investments outt of Bluport Hua Hin the Bluport Department Store which is run by The Mall group on floor 1 to 3 plus Gourmet Market on the ground floor would have to go during 2021 unless the parent company Hua Hin Asset Ltd. can find a local or foreign mall operator to buy the shares sold by the Mall group. Many Stores like Uniqlo amd H&M will have to go as well.
The owner of Siam Intercontinental which is located right across the street won‘t let its build Mall to becomes a local shoddy local Airconditioned 2nd Hand market that’s for sure. Hua Hun Asset Ltd. might have bite into the sour apple and run the Bluport Department Store section themselves and find a supermarket company like Foodland to run Gourmet Market. Foodland has an Ambition to enter Hua Hins Supermarket scene ever since 2001, damn that was the era while I was a Student at Stamford International College back than Yep the Hua Hin Campus.
It would be a wild stretch or even a major shopping Mall coup if Hua Hin Asset Ltd. manages to get Central Retail Group to buy up shares the Mall group sold for a baht each. It’s highly unlikely we could see Bluport by Central or a Central Foodhall in Bluport Hua Hin anytime soon.
Right now we have a double capacity of chain Restaurants at Bluport and Market Village, such as Fuji Japanese Restaurant, KFC, the Pizza Company etc. one location gotta give as Hua Hin ain’t that big to support chain restaurants within such short distances as these Mall locations are. If Bluport was in Cha Am or Pran Buri that would be another question but for now for the Mall group that was a loose loose investment that’s for sure.

Yours The understudy!!!

@ The Understudy. That's a very well informed article apart from the fact floors 2 & 3 were closed ages ago and the rest of the TMG's Department Store from those floors was relocated to floor 1 and the Ground floor. Remove that and there isn't much else left.

A Foodland would be good. It won't bring anything new to Hua Hin, but it will bring cheaper prices and if they add their restaurant as well, (the two often go hand in hand), that would be a bonus. But a Central Food hall would be even better, far better than the offerings Central provide via TOPS in Hua Hin.

Gourmet Market stocks good quality products. I hope any replacement will too.

Would Villa Market consider taking it over, do you think? They sell good quality stuff. And their current shop is so tiny.

I personally have never seen a VM in a Mall. They are usually stand alone stores. There are currently two VM's in Hua Hin, maybe they could consolidate and just use the one space? Interesting thought.

I have never been to the one near Plearnwan. They could move one to BluPort and utilise the larger space!

The second one is in Index. Front of the building facing the car park.

Why? We usually use Tesco. If something isn't available, we'll move to Tops or Villa. Wouldn't dream of going to Bluport.

Not sure where Tesco's comes into it? Maybe the people that use VM don't use Tesco. And if VM had a bigger store here, they might have more variety of stock.

I mainly use Gourmet Market in Bluport as it's the nearest store to me and generally stocks what I want. I use VM when I want something that GM doesn't stock.

Tesco only appears on my radar when I am doing something else in Market Village and even that's fizzled out since their shortcake biscuits are no longer available!

I think if you live from Soi 94 North, Bluport is an inconvenience.
