NYE BIB action on Soi 80

Post by 404cameljockey »

A friend who has a business in Soi 80 tells me that about 20 police descended on the street last night, as a few bars had taken a chance and opened up.

Unfortunate for the bars and customers alike, who I also believe are in the BIB'S naughty book.

I don't know about fines or arrests, did anyone get caught up in this?

Without looking at the reasons or politics behind the raids, IMHO plenty of warning was given. You had to be living on another planet not to have heard of the restrictions, and the penalties for not complying. Most of Hua Hin managed to comply, happy or not.

Unusually, it's a case of the police doing the job they are paid to do.

Spot on, BB, lunacy to open bars against the strict rules let alone visit them. But then plenty of lunatics believe masks are part of a control conspiracy. Thank the lord I live in Thailand and not the anarchist West at the moment.

Happy New Year! ♥️

Some bars are also restaurants. They are allowed to be open.

So were they closed also? The OP mentions bars and customers.

I agree with the first couple of replies. Anyone breaking the law in Thailand deserves the punishment.

Yes and some bars have tried to pretend that they are now restaurants. They have been caught.

According to my source, a bar doesn't have to be, or even pretend to be, a restaurant. Apparently, if you are an ordinary bar devoid of 'hostesses' you are allowed to open with a couple of restrictions like not having parties.

Strange the BIB were mobhanded hassling them on NYE then. It definitely happened. Or maybe not strange.

Irrelevant now anyway, no alcohol in any eating/drinking establishment.
