Is this FAKE NEWS? I've watched the video at the link, and maybe I'm not sensitive enough, but I see absolutely nothing wrong. If somebody watches the video, and spots the heinous crime for which these guys are being deported, please make a note of the minutes.seconds the crime takes place, and let me know please.

There was nothing wrong, it's an official who got a stick up his arse. Totally over the top for what happened, and aimed against long term expats with businesses (at least one of them), and married here. It could be they have it out for them for other reasons not mentioned?

There's been stories in various publications over the last 10 days or so.

Edit: In addition, if the locals "are so insulted and love animals, nature and the marine environment..." so much, prosecute them to the fullest when they dump bags of trash, plastic and indescribable filth on the beaches and into the sea which happens daily, and nightly under the cover of darkness when the dump trucks come out all over the country and create illegal dumps!

They're rolling over way too easily. They should have had lawyers and rights advocates fighting their case at least a week ago.

When I learnt diving we were taught to never touch or disturb the sea creatures. There are good reasons for this, especially at night. These are a couple of idiots, especially as one of them is a dive instructor. A fine would have sufficed though.

People in power seem to often forget the damage the "little guy" can do if they give him a reason.

At least one of these men has a business and Thai family, and now his life here is totally destroyed. If he resolves himself to the fact that he will never live here again, and it's obvious he has been treated more harshly than others who have committed a same or similar act, look out.

If he has any flare for writing all he needs to do is generate a handful of readers which could mushroom into thousands of readers, and tell his story and his other observations and experiences where foreigners have been abused and discriminated against here.

It's foolish and costly to turn friends into enemies.

Here's some other stories about similar but more serious behaviour. Did any of these Chinese have their visas revoked and kicked out of the country? The stories don't say, and there was never any additional action that was published that I can find.

If diving unless licensed do not touch, play with or poke with sticks. A svere bollocking and a reminder as to their future behaviour would be enough.

I haven't seen that from what I've read. If it's correct, there's the justification. If you come across it again give a reference.

Yes, we are taught not to touch anything whilst diving and these two should have known better but ... unless there is something else afoot, the punishment doesn't fit the crime. It sounds like another prick trying to make a name for himself by getting in the headlines for cracking down on those evil white devils, driven by another load of Thai xenophobia on social media.

As mentioned above, do they deport the Chinese for standing on the coral, stealing reef fish, taking selfies with marine animals out of the water, spearfishing, or climbing on buddha statues?
