Dry weather but not dry bars. Best of both worlds.

The only thing I can think of is that it’s a joke, on one side of a street you can buy alcohol and further down you can’t - as with so many things in Thailand, there’s very little to justify the decisions!!

It is a joke because whichever side of the street you're living on, its like most Thai laws, enforced when they feel like it.

Having said that, my son says the BIB were out in force on Soi 94 last night, closing the bars down - after the Man Utd vs Crystal Palace game, of course

It's not about people living here. It's all about tourists and they've 'identified' what they consider to be what a tourist would want.

I disagree. Yes, the Blue Zone is where Sandbox visitors are restricted to, but it also refers to the area where restrictions have been eased, which affects everybody. Yes, we know reality and theory are miles apart, but the letter of the law is precise, just ignored.

Of course it affects everybody, but these blue sandbox zones are being pushed for tourism. As you said, BB, HH has consistently had the highest number of cases but HH gets the blue and the rest of PKK remain red! If it was about local people then surely the rest of PKK would also be open.

The HH blue zone area only had 6 cases in today's report. 4 in T. Hua Hin, 2 in T. Nong Kae. (T = Tambon)

I noticed that we're not top of the list today. 19 in HH including 4 from the army camp and 4 from a birthday party. But it's just one day.

We had a 'family outing' yesterday. Visited the 'Science Park (aquarium)' and on the way back stopped to eat at a beach restaurant in Dolphin Bay. Open bottles of Chang being served - no problem. I asked the waiter, "Were you closed during lockdown?" - "No. Never closed" - "And did you stop serving alcohol?" - "No. If our customers want a beer then they can have one. No Problem!"

It's almost as if he was completely oblivious of any restrictions.

I was in Hua Hin last month and it was the same at the beach restaurants in front of the Hilton which are a bit more visible than the ones in Dolphin Bay.

But the centre of HH is supposed to be a 'blue' zone! The rest of PKK is 'orange' which includes an alcohol ban.

I can't quite remember when I stopped checking if HH was Blue/Orange or even Deep RED. Life has carried on pretty much as before. Most people in HH are double jabbed, very responsible and sensible.

It was nice to see the shutters at my local staying open until 11pm. Proudly displaying his SHA+ rating, it's the latest that alcohol could be served legally for a long time. A very pleasant night with good attendance for a '9 ball competition' as has been the case for a while. But seemed very different as a 'shutter less bar'.

Everything is still totally shuttered at the southern end of the province. At least we can pop over the border into Chumphon province if we want to be reminded what a bar actually is though!
