Chinese New Year - 2020 Year of the Rat

Post by Big Boy »

I'll start this thread off with an event I enjoyed last year, and will attempt to go again this year.

Saturday 25 January 2020 @ 10:00 on the lawns of the Intercontinental Hotel.

Entrance is free, and last year's hospitality was second to none. A very colourful event.

"The Rat is the first of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. The Rat tricked the Ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived at the finish line, Rat jumped down and landed ahead of Ox, becoming first."

Certainly know people in this vain.... Not trying to say all those born in the year of the rat are all alike!

Of course, I was born in the year of the Dog, trustful, loyal, faithful, cute, cuddly, don't blow my own trumpet (although my bl**dy dog does his).........

When you look at the personality traits, they are all positive - so where do all the misfits and tyrants come from?

This one should be a challenge for the acrobats on the sky deck at Vana Nava Sky on 27th floor, especially if its a touch windy. Free entry.

Another thread indicating that Chinese are arriving in Hua Hin en masse already, it made me think that Thais don't usually set off fireworks on Chinese New Year, but more so on Jan.1 New Year. At least that has been my experience year after year.

I wonder if thousands of Chinese tourists will rush out and buy fireworks and set them all off on January 25!?

Are firework sales evident in Hua Hin at the moment?

Hua Hin is usually fireworks from waking up until going to sleep - dogs hate it.

I see the poster at Pone Kingpetch Parks says their show, which has been very good other years, will be on 24th January from 4:30pm until 9pm.
