'New posts' in Quick links

When I log in, I always use 'New posts' in Quick links. Over the last few days I've noticed that when I first log in there may be (for example) 8 new posts, but after I look at the first one, when I return to New posts there may be only 2 or 3. Then later, the missing new posts all magically reappear (sometimes).

This has never happened before, and I've been using this process for donkeys years. Any idea what the problem is?

You may be blocking site cookies which records whether or not you have seen posts and they are still 'new'.

Logging out and in again will also remove any new posts in there.

Nothing has changed with the software.

I have a similar problem.
I log in it show some posts for the day.
Then I click on new posts and it shows the posts I have just read and some new posts.
Today I did that I was looking for a post so I clicked on active topics, It showed more new posts for today which were not there when I clicked new posts. This was in 5 minutes.
