I live just at the back of Suan Son Beach by Sea Pines Golf Course. Last night (Thurs) around 6.30pm there was a big electrical storm, very big thunderclaps and lots of lightning flashes. A few minutes after the storm had passed about 15 minutes, heard the sound of Ambulance sirens rushing to the beach. My wife (thai) has just told me that she saw on Thai social media a westerner was struck by the lightning on the beach. Apparently he was bleeding profusely from the nose and in a bad way when taken away. Do not know the outcome.
I was on the beach on Monday when another storm was approaching, when I saw the lightning flashes I soon scurried away but not before telling a Eastern European lady with 2 small children not a good idea to walk on the beach with an umbrella up with lightning about , she was most indignant and carried on walking
Worth remembering lightning can kill you
