How to obtain a house Yellow Book

It seems that some immigration matters and driving license renewals require one to have a yellow book.

I recall many years ago I enquired at the HH Tessabhan and was told to have my passport translated into Thai, then confirmed by embassy and then certified by Thai ministry of Foreign Affairs. That was quite enough so I did not bother.
But it seems that renewal of 5 year driving license and 12 month visa are now asking for this ( from some districts anyway)

I do hope the procedure is now more simple so anyone with recent experience on this please advise

Different provinces and even amphurs have different requirements. If you're married to a Thai then it's worth checking out the requirements at the wife's amphur and get it done on the next visit if they're more lenient.

Regardless, I've yet to see a DLT that refuses to issue/renew licenses (5yr or otherwise) if you have a residence certificate from immigration on hand. Definitely not a requirement for any visa/extension matters (though they may want to see it *if* you have one).

I have to say, my Yellow Book has been next to useless in the 2 years I've had it. The ID card on the other hand has been very useful.

The yellow book is handy if you want to buy or sell a vehicle and don't want to go to immigration to hand them more money.

It's also a prerequisite for the pink card.

If I have a pink Id Card do I still have to carry my Passport

Yes, not everybody will realise it is a Thai ID Card.

It will definitely not be accepted on all internal flights.
