Hua Hin immigration moving on Feb 4, 2019

My friend did his yearly retirement visa at the new office yesterday. He said one really frustrating thing was they told him he need to show his original birth certificate so he had to go home and find it, then on returning he had to start at the back of the queue again.

I have never been asked for my birth certificate before, I wonder how many people actually have theirs with them.

Been here for the best part of 20 years and have never needed it. I'm not even sure I can lay my hands on it now.
If required, then I'd have to get a copy from Somerset House in the UK which would take time.
You need a birth certificate when you first apply for a passport, hence your passport is proof of age ad infinitum.

Oh, that has changed. Many years ago before they set up in Hua Hin, that's where you had to go for anything. Being, in effect, the head office, I would have thought they would cater for anything. But you're quite correct. Having checked they do no more than Blu-port does.

I'm confused by the comment "does no more than Bluport does"

Are you saying therefore that I can do my retirement permission( first) annual renewal at Bluport and NOT have to go to new Office?

I understand the office near Prachuab (Singkhom) will only process the same options as Blueport which is:
90 day reporting
30 day extension of a Tourist Visa.
I think they may do Re-entry stamp but I'm not sure.

No, you can't do retirement/marriage extensions at Bluport. Singkhom main office used to be near Prachuab and before they opened there 'satellite' operation in Hua Hin, that's where you had to go but as said they've now ceased doing the main stuff.

Unless the passport is fake. Of course if you had a fake passport you could have a fake birth certificate. They have nothing else to do except think up stupid shite.
Always remember if it's simple and easy, Thai's will make it complicated and difficult. They're always trying to reinvent the wheel and are always a few spokes short.

Sorry if the info's already been posted here and I’ve missed it in my search, but would someone mind confirming, or otherwise, what time the new office opens for business Mondays to Fridays?
I'm seeing a 10.00 start but I seem to remember the old office opening at 08.00 or 08.30 (?) and just want to check it really is 10.00 so I don’t arrive too early and end up waiting in the car for an hour or more.

I just did my yearly extension of permission to stay (retirement) at the new office and there was no mention of needing a birth certificate. I just supplied the same documents as last year - was in and out in ten minutes. It was even quicker than at the old office - plus it's easier to get there (for me), easier to park and the office is more comfortable (better seats and A/C).

I did my 1 year extension this week, usual paperwork, not many farangs as well only 3 civil servants at work. No new requirements.

Careful how you word your posts. Immigration are part of the Royal Thai Police. Yes, I know that the police can be considered 'civil servants' but in this case, your comments could be misconstrued.

Playing with words, forum is reinventing new terms. In any language, people working for gouvernement offices, as police, immigration, tax officers, and even street cleaners if they are not hired by a private company are civil servants.
